You finally closed on that home you really wanted! Closing costs, moving fees, mortgage payments... how are you going to decorate?
As a creative designer, I have a few tips for inexpensive fun ways to frame and decorate your walls.
This is the first in a 4 part series.
Everyone has magazines! Sports, fashion, children's themes, golf..? Take out that pile and find your favorites; magazine covers are preferred and avoid torn, crinkled, or those with coffee cup rings..
Cut them neatly, using a straight edge of steady hands with a pair of scissors. Then measure your image.
Next, head to the store, but avoid spending any money except for the intended purchase. Frames! Look for discounted and low cost frames that will fit your images.
Stores like Marshalls, and TJ Maxx have designer frames with low prices. Target, K-mart, and many others have a large variety and are good if you are looking for several that match. If you can't find the exact size as your magazine image, you can use a matt.
Take time to clean your frame, remove any stickers, and make sure you take note which end the hooks are on before placing your image in. Frame your pictures and hang them (best at eye level) for all to enjoy!
Here are a few I put in the hallway of the kids bedrooms, thus the fun theme "The Land of Nod". Be creative and appropriate (Guns and rifle magazines don't belong in the bedroom and "Playboy" magazines should not be framed for a bathroom which the family and guests use). Enjoy the compliments you will receive!
