"Trip Through the Remodel...Part 2"

`Today is NOT Friday, but today, on the FIRST day of work, the men did such a fantastic job that I had to show you what a great team & company can accomplish.
So, below are some more photos;
...some are of the semi-finished areas;
...some are of the blank areas after tear-out;
...some are of the equipment, tools & uselessness of the area.

Lest anyone out there think that we are glossing over the confusion of not having a working Kitchen;
we are not; we have no children & no animals during this remodel, as we had before.

I would never type here that it is easy to live among the clutter with or without kids / pets;
It is not easy, but, if you get a good team, even the clutter & mess can be endured.

Do not be concerned, anyone can do this;  just if you do have kids & / or pets, you will need to do more advanced planning--BUT, don't you do that all the time anyway.

Hope that you enjoy these photos;
Hope they give you a clearer picture of what a complete tear-out can entail.

The Fridge wall [it is the Black sided item on the left]; this was a total remove of 2 pantry, 1 over fridge & glass door storage, plus lower dbl cabinet

The bottom photo is 1/2 way complete, fridge will fit as in the before photo; waiting for moldings first.
But won't it be wonderful when finished. We are eating in the great room [sort of]; the fun part is that these new cabinets do match Sal's Mom's  table & chairs bought 40 Years ago--you can see one of the chairs. Cool & fun.
taken later, thus the sun in different position--but this will happen during the day anyway, so I left this one in. The others of the sink & micro walls will be placed here for you to view.
 This is NOT a good photo, but it does show the two[2] cabinets that we are going to use in 2 of the 3 bathrooms as storage.  YOU can recycle YOUR own items, if they are being 're-faced' as these will be. Those photos to come later.

 Leaving these larger so YOU can see that it is NOT a pretty site during a remodel. the Black sided item is out stove; so NO Cooking for awhile. To the left of this area, you can see one couch in the great room & our table that is covered.

 Do notice that the coverings that are seen, other than the towel over the TV & table cover, were ALL provided by the crew
The hanging one is stretched over the opening into the great room during the work.

Here you are viewing the large window in the eat-in section of the Kitchen; the light [ over the table area] is hooked-up close to the ceiling during work; the door leads to the  'mud-room , 3rd Bath & door to the garage [1 of 2 such entrances]

Tomorrow, Friday, the Granite company is coming to measure, so all lower cabinets & the new island will be in place. then we are looking as 1 full week until the granite, sink, & water, garbage disposal, drains are in place. During this
Measuring time', our crew is moving onto the re-facing of the master bath & the wet bar. Another early-up as all those items must be removed from cabinets. To tell you the truth,after weeding, yard work, helping with their trash, clean-up and finding some kitchen floor tiles in the basement, I am too tired to move one more item to one more place right now. so, Friday am is that time & it will get done.
The reason we were up & down to the basement a few times is that, when the lower cabinets were removed, it was discovered that apparently the cabinets were set in place before the tiles went in; and as I think about it, I remember the son & grandson of the builders mentioned that the tiles in this house were ordered from Italy and during the 1986 shipping time, they were held up at customs-State-side I think, so the work proceeded and they had to do a lot of cuts in that thick tile.  Luckily, they had many extra tiles for the kitchen & the crew said they would lay the tiles to help stabilize their cabinets.  Pretty cool team wouldn't you say!
If you look carefully to the left of the plastic-wrapped pantry #2 cabinet, you can see the cement flooring where the tiles are missing under old base cabinet. Since one other base cabinet was removed with the same missing tiles effect, it is assumed that all the other base cabinets will come out the same. Will find out tomorrow.

Trust me ANYONE out there on the Net planning or thinking about a remodel involving a total tear-out:
...If I can be happy at this early stage;
...If I can actually live with this, without dragging out my sweeper, or vacuum;
...If I can agree on Pizza for supper, with antipasto salad;
...If I can bring out the paper plates & bowls;
...If I can take the silver-ware, glasses & cups down to the basement to Wash them;

Then all of you out there who may "WAIT" better than I do--a remodel will be a snap for you.
If any of you out there considering such a remodel, who may live in the Macomb County area,and want the name of this company, then Contact us through our email & I /we will gladly give you  the company information. They do have two showrooms- both in Macomb County.

Randy & Lori...they are a great crew / company ,too. only snafu so far; Granite company showed up this am to measure cabinets that were not in place--SINCE the crew was told measuring would happen after 1:00pm. Not so Bad, right. Have a great weekend.

Dan...well, aren't you so very nice. Thanks for comment. If all continues as it has so far--things are looking UP!  A basically good camera plus  www.picnik.com can help anyone arrive at success.  I would love to take full credit, but wouldn't be valid. Have a great weekend.

Carra...Love that cow icon...the remodel outshines any writing that I produce.  But it IS moving right along isn't it? The smell of glue, tile cement, mortar is killing me. Reminds me of the Art classroom when all the students were using rubber cement.  A massive lung & airwaves assault--didn't like it when younger & really don't like it now.
When the re-facing begins, that smell will be similar as they "hot iron / glue / place the wood veneer to the old cabinet sides and the i" or 3/4" inside visible wood.  Have yourself a great weekend. Thanks for stopping by.

Best of luck to you.  I've now replaced 2 kitchens in 2 different houses in which I was living (with dogs and kid), and I know it's not much fun.  But, it's great when it starts coming together!

Jill...well, our hats are off to you since this time we are pet and kid-less.  We are older so maybe that is why the moving items hither & yon & back again is making me so tired; OR it is because I am hanging in the Basement office & only have  decaf down here to use.  Now, I do know where in the dining room all the items are placed-it is too much trouble to roam through the labyrinth to get to them.
Today, almost completed except for the Granite top & backsplashes. Really thought I was on top of things, but am hoping that they [our crew] do NOT want to work on Saturday. We'll See.
Thanks for the comment-Have a great weekend.
