Friday Fotos: Arlington House

By
Real Estate Agent with RLAH@properties AB95346

This is a shot of Arlington House, the Lee family's home, that I took this monrning crossing Memorial Bridge.  The house is on top of the hill, and the flag is half mast, as it is any day there is a military funeral at Arlington National Cemetery.

Pat, isn't that wonderful! But sad to know there is a funeral there today. Now... were you driving when you took that photo? Inquiring minds want to know....

This is an awesome shot.  I haven't seen it from this vantage before.  The flag there must stay permanently at half mast since there are so many funerals there each day.

There are many impressive things to see and experience while at Arlington.  There is not enough hours in the day to see it all.

Thanks so much for all of your comments!

OK, I was not in the driver's seat when I took this one.  That would be more irresponsible than driving and yakking on my cell phone!

And during the week, they have several services each day, and this means that the flag is almost always half mast between Monday and Friday.  One of my clients said that her grandfather, a veteran of World War II, was recently buried at Arlington.  As she described the service in detail, with the music and the flag and the salute, she said it was the most beautiful, moving tribute she could have imagined.

Somehow, it's a little less sad when the service is for someone who survived a war and had many decades of a wonderful life afterward than when a young service man or woman is coming home from Iraq or Afghanistan.
