What is more important?

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Advantage Realty

What is more important to YOU??  Is it getting a house inspection that will keep your deal alive or having the best home inspection possible to make sure your clients are going to be safe??  How can there be a middle road?  As a rookie agent, I would like to know what other agents think.

There is no middle road. Your client hires a reliable home inspector from a group of referrals that you provide. Those inspectors have a track record of providing valuable information about health and safety issues on the home.

Betsy,

It's an easy choice as a buyer's agent. Always recommend more than one home inspector that is known for their thorough approach, their honesty and their integrity. Get the inspection done as early as possible, and let the house stand on it's own merits. You will be know by your reputation.

Leslie is right.  Forget about a middle road.  Your ethical commitment to your client is to protect their interests, not take risks with their interests for the sake of assuring you get a commission.  Your inspector referral(s) should be to the most thorough and rational inspector(s) you know.
