Silly Saturday Night Post: Help Me Sell This Lanark County House

By

Lanark County, Ontario, 1895

While searching for photographs for my earlier blog post, I came across this beauty.

It made me grateful for all the resources we have today as homeowners, Realtors and Lenders.

Until the era following World War II, most homes in the United States and Canada were surrounded by what you see here.  Dirt!

Grass didn't come into popular use until the birth of the first subdivisions in the 1950s!

Flower gardens were a luxury.  Vegetable gardens were out back by the kitchen, and had fences around them to keep out the deer, rabbits and other critters.

If this house is still standing today, it's likely a beauty, surrounded by green grass and flowers.  How do you count your blessings?

I'm Mike in Tucson, your preferred Tucson, AZ mortgage lender.

Mike - What an eye-catching photo.  Where did you find it?  I am so blessed it's hard to know where to begin.  One of the things I'm most grateful for is having the ability to earn a living doing what I love.  There are many people in this world who would love to be able to work if only they were capable.  That's a huge blessing, to be able to think, walk and talk and enjoy working with and serving people.  Thanks for asking a great question!

Marlene: Thanks for visiting & commenting!  I found the picture while googling "old gentleman," "gentleman," and "1895" for my post on Dressing Up.  The search took me to old family albums associated with some of the photos, and there was the picture, and underneath the caption referencing Lanark County, Ontario.  I love to drive down roads where I've never been, and the internet is sort of like that.  Blessings on you!
