RainCamp Washington DC - Platinum Tickets Sold Out - What Might You Be Missing?

Reblogger Bob Stewart
Services for Real Estate Pros with ActiveRain

If you were waiting until the last minute to get your tickets for RainCamp Washington DC.....that last minute is quickly upon us. This Thursday, June 10th is our 9th RainCamp and sure to be our best one yet. Tickets are getting low, Platinum seating has sold out, and if DC is anything like our last 8 events, there will be a mad rush the next two days to secure those last minute tickets..........and if it's anything like many of our previous RainCamps, there will be people left without tickets.

We don't want that person to be you, so get signed up today if you aren't already.

One of the constructive criticisms that we've gotten from attendees of previous RainCamps is that we didn't focus enough on ActiveRain specifically. Sure, we talk about blogging and how to write posts that rank at the top of the search engines, but we never fully dived into the strength of ActiveRain. So for RainCamp DC, we've carved out a special part where we will focus exclusively on ActiveRain.

Another constructive criticism is that attendees never felt like they had a good chance to network with others in attendance. We always have a special after party, and we will do the same thing in DC, but many aren't able to stick around after and join us. So for RainCamp DC we are planning some cool networking sessions that allow those in attendance to meet the other professionals attending and make real life connections with other like-minded professionals interested in expanding their online presence as well.

Yes, we'll still be covering how to get your blogs to rank at the top of the search engines. We'll still be covering how to do the same thing for your website. Ben Kinney, one of our speakers and a Mega Agent from (the other) Washington, will still share with you how he is using Facebook to impact his business. We'll still show you some ways to utilize Twitter to reach consumers in your market. All of those things will still be covered.

We believe, with a few small tweaks, RainCamp DC is going to be our best RainCamp yet.

One question I get quite often is "what if I am very new to all of this social media stuff, am I going to be lost?"

I always answer the same......no! In fact, this is going to be a spring board to catch you up with most of your peers. It's going to help give you the confidence that your peers are using social media and blogging to close deals and have a positive impact on their business....and that you can do the same thing.

The flip side of that question is "I know it all, I'm not going to learn anything am I?" (OK, no one has ever said this to me.......but I know a few people thought that before they got to RainCamp)

I (would) answer the same thing.......then you owe it to your peers to come and share what you know because competition breeds innovation. By letting your peers know what's working for you today, that's how you will innovate to find that next thing that will carry the day tomorrow. We do these RainCamps with that in mind. We want to share everything we know so that we are pushed to learn the next tactic or technique that will lead to more business for our members.

I'll let J. Philip share his thougts with you on RainCamp NYC earlier this year.......He does a great job of reinforcing what I just said

I was one of the attendees that the Raincamp in New York this past Tuesday in Manhattan.

I wanted to leave at noon.

Did it suck? No, I wanted to start implementing this stuff right away

If you've never been to RainCamp and are wondering if it is worthwhile, I'll say this: If you've ever wished that someone who is actually doing this would just take and day and walk you through the nuts and bolts of selling real estate in 2010, then you would have had your head explode at this event. I'm a tough sell; moreover, I'm totally ADD and many of the seminars and educational events I've attended have either bored, disappointed, or both. This thing had me engaged the whole time. I'm literally exhausted 2 days later, and all I did was sit for 8 hours!

Did I catch up with people I already know and done business with? Yes.

Did I meet people for the first time in person? Absolutely. And that means a great deal. Being 6 chairs down from C-Tann Starr and watching her accept my Facebook friend request in real time was a trip. Hearing Sheldon Neal's British accent while shaking his hand was great. Seeing the Somers Team sit directly in front of me was a hoot. I could name drop for quite a while, but you get the point.

But I didn't get into real estate to hug C-Tann Starr or kibitz with Sheldon about fatherhood. I got into this business to make money. So here's the bottom line: Ben Kinney, the main presenter, is walking the talk. He sells real estate right now, and showed us how he does it.

  • Ever wonder how to make money on Facebook? That was here.
  • Ever wonder how to make money on Twitter? That was covered.
  • Interested in getting to the top of Google? Covered.
  • Wonder what to blog about and how to blog? Check.
  • Is there a website to help with one thing or another? Brother, my bookmarks are now bulging with gold nuggets.
  • Are you getting the picture?
There was no sales pitch. There was no long wind up to a $500 coaching program, books, tapes, or membership in some online sales clique. It was knowledge and tools, pure and simple, and they did it for a full day.

One last thing: There were some newbies there. New licenses, never blogged, and one guy who was a week away from MLS codes. These people will learn a different industry from what I learned in 1996, and they'll be the better for it. We veterans have to catch up, and this was a great way to begin the process.

The future isn't what it use to be... (Yogi Berra) It's now...

When it comes to technology and social media we're still in the frontier. One of the things I love most about Raincamp is the opportunity to stay in the leading conversation. Having direct access to the explorers, hearing their stories, their discoveries, experiments, and to be in conversation with them. Now that's what I'm talking about.

Bob, I am sorry I did not get to meet you at RainCamp this week.  You stayed busy.  It was information OVERLOAD!  I never take notes and I never stopped taking notes yesterday!

I put one idea to work this morning and already have a lead!  Is this possible?  I have done reasonably well with AR since starting last July but this is unbelievable.  What I can't understand is the technology averse real estate agents....you know the ones....they only check their emails once a day!
