Sound Beach Long Island NY Home Improves their Kitchen with Feng Shui Changes

This is a past client's kitchen from Sound Beach Long Island NY. Before any changes where made, her kitchen lacked a few of the Feng Shui Principles.  Laura Cerrano Feng Shui Long Island consultant suggested a few simple inexpensive changes. Can you guess what changed?......

My mother and I used the Bauga Method of Feng Shui to layout the space of her Kitchen.  From any entrance when walking into a room, the wall you see straight ahead is known as the Fame Wall.  The fame wall for our Sound Beach NY Client was her window.  To accent the area of Fame she used the color red and actually made the small red curtain that you see in the photo, very creative! The color red also accents the Feng Shui Element of Fire..so she had addressed two Feng Shui methods with one change. Another area where she added red was with the small round rug below the sink, which only cost two dollars!

Feng Shui Advice: Fire is always the number one element that lacks in the majority of homes, apartments and businesses. Take a look in your living or working environment to see if you can add some red to enhance and stimulate your space.

Located in the Back right hand corner of her Kitchen were two bamboo plants.  Using the Bauga method this is known as the Partnership Area.  To address partnership you want to have two items that are of the same size and height so their is no "power play" with your personal or business relationships. The two Bamboo plants can also symbolize growing together as one.  Again, she addressed two Feng Shui methods with one change.  The element of Earth was brought into her kitchen with by incorporating live plants and placing silk Ivory vines on top of her cabinets.

The last Feng Shui suggestions we made to her were to de-clutter her kitchen counters and put away any sharp, cutting instruments..such as blenders or knifes. In Feng Shui this is known as cutting energy. Do your best to take care of your Kitchen because in Feng Shui it represent Health and Wealth.

When you have Health you have everything.

hi Laura!

This is a very helpful post. Your client really did a nice job with the small improvements she made and the read makes the kitchen look cosy and inviting.

I love the view of the trees outside her kitchen window.

Laura, I'm with Jo on having the window above the sink, and how nice that is.  Always nice to be part of the outdoors as one prepares the meal.  I tend to get distracted and have to be careful when working on the cutting board!!!

Does the sink/faucet count as "WATER"?

Laura - Thanks for teaching us about Feng Shui in the kitchen.  I had no idea about the color red nor putting the knives away.   Great information!

Rita you can not go wrong with that, she took her time as well, there is no need to rush.  Find what you LOVE, that also makes a huge difference.

Bruce, same here! I like the view! Really good questions, the fountain/sink is water but, not the type you want, it is a drain energy.  There are certain cures of off set that.  The water element can be addressed by the color blue.  That can be with a blue painting, pebbles, cups, glass or use an actual water fountain. It will depend on your taste of decor.

Elyse, Your welcome, I'm glad to hear you learned about another helpful tip when incorporating Feng Shui into your lifestyle :)
