Is your *business* growing?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with The Virtual Link

As a Virtual Assistant, I spend hours in front of the computer each day with little to no physical activity.  Sound familiar?

For years my husband used to ask me why I read so many different magazine articles and e-zines and I always responded that it was an extra effort to "grow my business."

Not too long ago my husband mentioned that my *business* was growing and he didn't mean my work - he meant my rear end!  And he's right.  At the rate of 5 pounds per year times 10 years that I've been in business - well, you do the math!

Now I've purchased everything from gym memberships to elliptical machines and if you need any exercise DVD out there, give me a holler cause I have them all and some are still in their original packaging!  I learned that just buying this stuff doesn't make you thinner you have to actually use it!

A couple of weeks ago I finally got sick of still looking pregnant even though my youngest child is now 4 years old.  So I did something drastic.  I joined City Boot Camp.

City Boot Camp is a rigorous exercise program which is military style.  Push-ups, sit ups, jump rope, running, biking, squats, lunges and everything else that hurts to the core.  :)  I'm working my butt off (literally) and I'm seeing results and loving it! Even my husband has noticed the results.

I'm in week 2 of 6 right now.  Everyday I wake up and something new hurts.  I figure it's my punishment for being such a slacker for the past 10 years but our instructor is pretty patient with the newbies and pretty tough with the old returning members - yes people actually return for this abuse AND pay for it!  :)

I'm not a runner but I'm running now.  I haven't done push ups since high school and I'm doing plenty each day.  I haven't jumped rope since elementary school but I'm doing that too - and a whole lot of other crazy stuff.

The only thing that's killing me is that the class starts at 5:30 am.  I haven't seen two 5 o'clocks in the same day in at least a decade but I'm doing it.  I've been there every day.  I'd love to say I'm loving it, I'm not, it's hot, it's painful and it's hard.  But my body is loving it and showing me the love for it.

Funniest moment so far?  On the second day we had to run a 1/4 mile for a "warm up" - I thought I was dying.  About the time I caught my breath Chris made the announcement that we were going to test our cardiovascular endurance - which I have none of by the way.  We had to see how fast we could run a mile...um, slow? was my answer.  Ugh, I did it, I ran a mile in 14 minutes and 45 seconds.  I probably could of laid down and rolled a mile faster than that but it is what it is...during field sprints about 10 minutes later I went and puked by the fence.  I was so embarrassed!  LOL  My brother who's an Army Ranger said that if I felt like puking, I was probably doing it right.

If you're in the Dallas area, check out City Boot Camp and if you're not in the Dallas area, most major cities have programs like this going on.  Do yourself a favor and get in shape this year!

Oh, and PS, I'm marketing even during workouts and may be doing some SEO services for the owner in the near future...if I don't die first!  lol

Hi Pam,

Don't feel bad I just had my youngest child exactly 1 year ago and the baby fat is not comig off as easy as my first child. I am definately not happy with the figure at all. And I have been getting back into my windsor pilates but yes it is hard with me sitting in front of the computer for hours on end on my end!! I just consider it as a work hazard! :) Keep it up, 5:30 does come early I been doing my workouts at night when everyone is asleep but I get to do mine at home.
