FRIENDS FUR-EVER FESTIVAL THIS SATURDAY IN WHEATON, ILLINOIS!

      FRIENDS FUR-EVER FESTIVAL!

     SATURDAY, JUNE 12TH ... ON DUPAGE COUNTY ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL SHELTER GROUNDS IN WHEATON, ILLINOIS!  

       Hosted by:  Friends of DuPage County Animal Care and Control Foundation

       General Admission and Parking is FREE!

       Registration for Dog Walk On-site @ 9 am:  $30.00  Walk begins at 10:30 am.  Festival begins at 11 am.  Leashed, vaccinated, and social pets are welcome at the Festival.

     

       This Festival is hosted by the Friends of DuPage County Animal Care and Control Foundation.  The Foundation supports the DuPage County Animal Care and Control by raising funds through the Friends  Fur-Ever Festival.  Last year over $11,000 was raised by the Multi-Shelter Pet Expo and Dog Wash n' Walk, both of which are combined with the Fur-Ever Festival this year.

     Adoption of animals is a main focus of this year's Festival.  The DCACC will be promoting adoption of the animals they care for ... which includes pure-bred dogs. 

     More than 50 rescue groups will be in attendance to assist in promoting this worthy cause. 

     

     Differing terms apply for adoption of different types of animals.  Dog adoptions require that all members of a household meet the dog prior to their actual adoption processing.  Information regarding adoption of other animals will be available on Saturday through-out the Festival.

Gene:  What a great event !  I am so glad that my own Mollie T. is my fur-ever friend. And yes... the little puppy and the little kitty wrapped up in the newspaper are very, very cute.  But no... LOL... I do not need any more "little ones."  The fact that more than 50 rescue groups will be there is just amazing.  I wish them so much luck.  "Meow" from Mollie T.

Gene - As a long time dog mama, the fur babies and I love going on these pet walks.  We've been a few now.  As the adoption process, I think that the family should meet the dog before adopting and around here, some of the agencies even visit the home to make sure that the home is dog friendly.

Donne:  Our dog, Maggie, was a shelter find ... and we can't imagine a dog any better than she was.  When we are ready (and emotionally capable) of thinking of another dog, we will certainly choose this method again.  I'm glad that these adoption shelters/groups take such care.  I can't imagine anything worse for an animal than being placed (once again) in another bad situation.

Gene - Hubby and I have been rescuing pets for most of our lives and we have the best memories of each and every one of them.  We currently have three fur babies: Sadie - female Corgi mix, Joie - male Springer Spaniel mix and Dawson - male Golen Retriever.  They can be a handful at times but we love them dearly.

Donne:  Our Maggie?  We've not a clue what she was.  One vet said they thought she had Greyhound in her .. mixed with bird dog of some kind.  The shelter told us they thought she had lab in her ... but we discounted that as she got bigger.  She definitely did have bird or hunting dog in her ... but no matter what she was ... she was perfect for our family.  She could run and jump like a great athlete ... but sit on your lap and cuddle like a baby.  It's why it's so hard to replace her yet.  Maybe with a little bit more time.  Until then ... she was my "furry daughter" ... and I miss her.

Gene - OMG!  She's beautiful!  I can also sympathize with the loss of dearly loved pet; it's hard.  Every time hubby and I have lost one, it does take time to go back out there and rescue another one, knowing that another heartbreak is inevitable.  However, the memories in between are wonderful.  Have a good day Gene.  :)

This must be the weekend! I'll be attending the Jambalaya Jam for my fav animal sanctuary, Paws4Ever!

Maggie was a lucky pup although I'm sure you would argue that you were the lucky ones! Not to worry...there is a new furball out there just waiting to steal your heart and make Maggie proud that her mom and dad are keeping the love alive!

SarahGray:  Enjoy your weekend with your furry friends!  Maggie was lucky.  We think she had been abused before she was abandoned.  Her actions at times told us that.  But otherwise, she could alternate between being a complete knucklehead and sweet loving little baby.  Our family adored her, as did our friends and the extended family.  We were lucky to have found her.  Her pictures are proudly displayed in our home and that of our two boys.  Someday soon ... we will find another.  But replace her?  Never.

Thanks for being a friend and understanding how we feel ...
