Are you a Real Estate Agent selling around Lake Conroe or are you a Buyer looking for a new lake getaway? As we drift, okay really we're sprinting, into the Hot Summer Season of Texas, there are several tips and pieces of advice that are worthy of taking notes! Selling and viewing homes in the heat can become tiresome and even possibly dangerous. Our humidity is so high at times that our heat index raises the 97 degrees right on up to over 100.
Yikes...
What does one do? Be prepared and build yourself a Real Estate Survival Kit.
First of all, as an Agent, I always warn my buyers to come dressed for the lake. Don't laugh! This is important stuff! I once had a young woman show up in a black pair of jeans and a black T-shirt! She sweltered. If you are looking at homes that are vacant the power could possibly be off. I recommend light cotton clothing and open shoes and even possibly a hat.
And, I dress the same. We are on the lake you know! Have fun.
Before each day of showings I replenish my Real Estate Survival Kit. The kit consists of an ice chest in which I fill with ice and pack bottled water, sodas, and energy drinks. Often times when you are showing or viewing several homes the day can grow very long. You may not be close to a store for refreshments and the children may become uncomfortable. Include small packages of nuts, crackers, gum and anything that sounds good to you! Although, I did learn the hard way that chocolate bars just do not work!
Now that we have our libations we can move on to a more serious subject.
Have your Buyers ever had an accident or have you while showing Lake Conroe Homes? I hope your answer is a resounding "no". But, what if there was an accident? Are you currently carrying an Emergency Medical Kit? You should. You can purchase a full kit at most Drug Stores or you can put one together yourself. Remember the basics like band aids, salve, scissors, gauze, Peroxide and possibly a cream for stings. Benedryl pills or another Generic brand is very important in case someone is stung by a bee or wasp and has an allergic reaction. You can also purchase topical cream for stings. Oh, and sunscreen is a must.
Here's a quick review...
- 1. Recommend that everyone dresses for the lake.
- 2. Put your Survival Kit together.
- 3. Keep your Emergency Medical Kit with you at all times.
These basics will help your Tour of Lake Conroe Real Estate a safer and more pleasurable experience.
Now, get creative. I know I have not listed everything that could make a better and safer day. Build your own kits and use your own ideas. Make it as fun as you can for everyone! I still remember the giggles I received the day I pulled out 5 battery powered hand held fans and passed them around!
Have a great summer selling and buying on Lake Conroe, my friends.
