When Gendron Homes first built this home the Sellers were charmed by the location and the floor plan. The way the home is situated on the lot provides for plenty of privacy in the back yard, which the current owners have enhanced by including a fence and, now, mature trees and covering the good size patio. Also being near great schools, the proximity to Peterson Air Force Base and having shopping close by played a big role in the decision process at the time. As the city developed the shopping possibilities have only improved by the growth along the Powers corridor. Over the years the current owners have improved the home to breathe a more European atmosphere. The last upgrade was a brand new roof. One of the things that stands out for homes in this price range is the ceramic tile floor that covers the entire main floor, including the kitchen. Not only does it provide for easy cleaning, but walking trails like you’ll find in carpeted homes are a thing of the past. The neutral color of the tile provides plenty of opportunity to play with the interior design. The lay-out of the living and dining room also reminds of European construction. By creating an L-shape the architect accomplished enough separation between the two even though they are combined. Pikes Peak can be seen both from the living room as well as the master bedroom. A second feature that stands out is the marble counter tops in the three bathrooms that ad to the rustic quality of the interior. Now you may ask, why did they move back to this home after selling it in 1997? The current owners tell me that Villa Loma is just such a nice and quiet neighborhood with great neighbors. If you didn’t know about it, you wouldn’t expect this tucked away area bordered by the old historic railway on the North (no longer in use!). The nice mix of families mostly over 40 and both military and civilian make this a gem to live in!
