Just six months left until the new Matthew Knight Arena hosts its first game! It's hard to miss the new structure when driving down Franklin Boulevard, the 12,500 seat basketball venue looms over the road and draws the eye.
Replacing the old Mac Court, this project has been at the center of quite a bit of controversy. Neighbors in the area have been concerned that the lack of additional parking will create a snarl in their neighborhoods, and while the university promises that they will have a transportation plan that makes use of an extensive park & ride + walking based strategy, this will be something the local neighbors will be watching closely.
When buying a home, the way things _are_ is a huge part of how you make your decision, but a good real estate agent should also be able to tell you what's going to happen in that neighborhood in the near future. Using the Matthew Knight Arena as an example, home buyers in the area would probably want to be aware of local plans to construct. If you live in town, you'd probably hear about it from friends and family, but buyers coming in from elsewhere have to rely on someone knowing what's going on. You might almost say they need to select an 'agent' of sorts to represent their interests!
