Three Reasons Sellers Don't Stage ---

 

Reason #1 CAN'T DECIDE TO STAGE!

These sellers want to wait and see w hat happens. (the procrastinators) 

Reason #2  DON'T NEED TO STAGE!   (the magical thinkers)

No body else is staging their house in the area and my house is so much b etter than the rest of the neighborhood and will sell without staging. This is the house will "sell-by-magic" thinker!

REASON #3 - I THINK I HAVE A BUYER ALREADY (the hopeful sellers)

 FSBO's are susceptible to this one!  Someone looks at their house and says they are REALLY interested and going to go get the wife, the brother, the sister, the mother, to come take a look.  AND THEN THE wait begins for the offer.  Sadly, this is the one who needs to be staged NOW to get the wife, the brother, the  sister or the mother  to come take a 2nd look!!!

 

There won't be a photo for this blog.  It would need to be a sad face waiting for an offer that doesn't come.

Beverly,  Any staging objections on the price of staging?  We know staged homes bring higher prices ... sellers just don't want to pay out any money to get their home sold.  Ironic ... isn't it?

Kathleen,  price is an objection, but price is an excuse for not understanding the value of staging and saying something else like wait and see, the house is already updated and will sell or I think a buyer is already lined up, etc. 

Education is the cure to all objections.  I am trying to work on my end of being a better educator and that will that's another blog!

Cost is the most common reason I hear from realtors & sellers; however the cost of staging is less than the 1st price reduction.  Stagers have the training and the creativity to provide sellers with cost-effective means of renovating, as well as contacts who offer discounts, which can be passed onto sellers.  

I agree with you that price is the excuse used when realtors and sellers do not understand the value of staging.

Sharon, I have found that cost is the most common reason given.  The more the seller understands what a stager can do, the more desire for the product of staging is wanted. When desire for the benefit of a sale increases, the ojection to price decreases.

I have found that more and more sellers are the one's that want their homes Staged!  My last three bids the Realtor contacted me to say that his seller would like me to put in a bid to Stage their home.  I had never been contacted by any of these Realtors before.

Sellers are learning the better a house looks the better it sells!  I think there is just more information out in the media about Staging which is good for us!

Linda, that is wonderful to hear that the sellers are contacting you!  That is what Barb Schwarz has said would be happening more and more.
