If you've never visited historic Frankfort, Illinois, and viewed the beautiful homes and gardens there ... or visited the quaint shops located within its scenic downtown area ... this Sunday, June 13th, is the perfect time to do so.
Nostalgia for a by-gone era will be rampant in the gardens showcased during the 4-hour Historic Downtown Partnership's inaugural "Historic Downtown Garden Walk".
Visitors will be able to walk gardens and displays within a four block area located in the oldest part of this scenic village. A horse-drawn, guided wagon tour will be available as well, beginning at 12:00 Noon from Breidert Green.
Five downtown Frankfort, IL restaurants will be serving samples of their foods to visitors within the gardens ... each stop featuring a different restaurant. Besides the beautiful flowers themselves, sculptures, art, trellises, games, garden structures, and more will serve as visual "eye candy" at each stop. Some of these gardens have evolved, expanded, and grown in beauty for 20 years and more ... and host a large variety of heirloom flowers, such as roses, hydrangeas, hibiscus, astilbe, plus other varieties.
The final treat for this special Sunday afternoon will be located at 4 W. Nebraska Street, Frankfort, IL, where a local photography shop (Star Visions Photography) will be hosting a photo trivia game, complete with prizes ... as well as a tour of their own on-site garden. A floral design demonstration will also be offered at this final location by Jackie King of Gardeenia Floral Design Studio of Frankfort, IL.
The "Historic Downtown Garden Walk" will be held in downtown Frankfort, IL, from 12:00 Noon to 4 p.m. Tickets for the afternoon of viewing and enjoyment cost $25 and can be found at The General Store, the Paper Spot, Chew on This Dog Barkery, and Pickwick Society Tea Room in downtown Frankfort.
