ACCREDITED BUYERS REPRESENTATIVE (ABR®) CERTIFICATION – WHY IT MATTERS

By
Real Estate Agent with The Gene Group Inc

Back in 1926, when the University of Michigan granted the first ever Master's Degree in real estate business administration, it was common for an agent to work with both buyers and sellers without having to disclose to either party that he was representing the other.  It wasn't until 1959 when an Ohio court decided that both can be represented, but only with full disclosure and consent of all parties.

While agents still represent both parties, as a buyer you are probably looking for an agent who specializes in representing your side of the transaction.  A real estate agent with the Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR®) certification may be just what you need.

The ABR is the "benchmark of excellence" certification in buyer representation and is awarded by the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council ("REBAC") of the National Association of REALTORS®.  This designation is achieved through both educational and practical experience in which the agent is specifically trained to represent buyers in every transaction and to provide them with exemplary service. This prestigious certification isn't given to just any agent - it is awarded to the agent that proves he has the knowledge, experience and commitment needed to provide the buyer with excellent representation during their home buying journey from start to finish.

I'm proud to say that I hold this certification.  Call me today and let's talk about the advantages of using an agent that has been ABR® proven!
