Hugh is a big time technology blogger. I love his blog gapingvoid.com! He is also well know for his business card art.
Matt....Well, he is right about global marketing and blogging, that's for sure. In regards to talking about yourself in blogging? Sure, you can keep personal issues out of it, but what you can't keep out of it is on how genuine and sincere that you are about your business and life in general. As long as you aren't fake about this and just telling people what they want to hear. You can usually read into that kind of stuff. Thanks for sharing this.
Hey Brad,
Thanks for the compliment. We worked hard on putting these interviews together. We were lucky to interview some very interesting people, and we will be posting those interviews at a frequency of 1 or 2 per day over the next week or so.
Jeff,
Good to hear from you! You should check out Hugh's blog; he definately tells it like he see it.
I love seeing Active Rain as the background in this interview. Some of Hugh's points:
Blogs are not for everyone..web2.0 is here forever,
. ..Blogs don't write themselves..they are time consuming.
People read blogs to be able to share stuff with others.
Thanks for sharing this with us!
Jonathan...
Well first of all Sara looks lovely :)
And this Rain TV is awesome. I am looking forward to the rest of these interviews.
Blog Boy (Broker Bryant) and I have dabbled in 'Second Life' and thought it was way too far out there for us. We went dancing on the beach together a few times but that was about it. I gave up 'Second Life' when I turned a corner and all the avatars were naked :)
I have been studying the psychology of life in Cyberspace. It is odd to wake up this morning and find this post.
I love what Hugh has to say about mixing the personal and professional. It's nice to see that I am not the only that believes a line should be drawn. We all need a personal place within our lives where other's are not allowed. Gosh I could write a post about this. OH. Wait. I already did :)
TLW...ROAR!
"cheap and easy global media is here for ever!"
I like the idea of sharing rather than consuming too. Good interview.
I don't know that I have seen a WelcomeMat Video before, I liked the words being at the bottom, like an outline, it helped me stay fccused on the interview.
Maureen,
Just think of using this video format on a video tour of a home.
Kitchen
Living room
Master bedroom
Mast bathroom
Even though video has n't completely taken hold in the display of listing just yet, when it does (and it will) the chaptering technique employed by WellcomeMat will be the way to go. And my dad says the guys from WellcomeMat are really cool too :)
Jon and Matt,
Anxiously awaiting the rest of the series. Hugh's keynote on Social objects was really good!!!
I really like his point about "sharing" content instead people wanting to download content. It makes a lot of sense and gives me a thought....sweet!
Grreat video. Intersting point about sharing not consuming. I've been considering adding videos about real estate in NY from NBC TV to my blog. I was reluctant because there are other competitive brokers in the videos. They are really well done so I think I should share not consume, and not always try to sell myself.
BTW Jon and Matt is it possible to use java script on active rain or only html code?
