Special offer

Got laid off, maybe faith is telling me something.

Real Estate Agent with Maximum One Greater Atlanta Realtors 317535

I have been struggling with the decision concerning becoming a full-time agent, the decision was particularly hard for me because I had a full time job and I was scared that the market will make it hard for a new agent to put bread on the table.

Well I have never made it a secret, but I detest my job.

Check out my post about it click here

It so happens that I was laid off, effective Friday.

I am relieved in some ways, because I really wasn't happy working there, I got an ok severance package, but I need to decide what my next move should be, should I just become a full-time agent? Or find a part-time job...

I have a couple of friends that has been full time agents for years and who are not looking for part time jobs.... Would that a good decision now...

Do I even have a say in the matter? are the Gods telling me something?

Nothing Ventured...nothing gained.  They say when one closes another is opened. Give it a try full time and see what happens.  Good luck and sell well.

Work hard and trust in the Lord to provide for you. It sounds like my situation 2 years ago and I can tell you even ifyou have to make do with less . Leaving a job that made you miserable will be a blessing.

Not an easy decision, but if the funds are there, sure hang in a month of so and see what happens. Hopefully any marketing that you have been doing will still continue to pay off.  I would not go 20 different directions with the marketing though.  A large internet presence is the future, I believe, or we might not all be here on active rain. My biggest decision was with what company to sign on. I made the best choice and teamed up with a very experienced agent.  I would be happy to discuss the team connection that we have and how the $$$$ is set up...you might want to think about that before jumping in with anyone.

best of luck

I agree with everyone, this is the time to concentrate on Prospecting and Farming. Walk the neighborhood you plan on farming. Get to know the neighbors and whats avail for sale. Once you start getting buyers you know where to start and where to take them.

I wish you the best.  Been there done that...I am glad you have faith in God.  During this time continue to put him first!  It won't be easy but trust him and lean not unto your own understanding.  Remember nothing happens by accident.

I don't know about any Gods - just one, but when He is trying to tell you something it will usually be confirmed by other people and other circumstances that will line up and make it known to you beyond the shadow.

Kathlene, It is a blessing to be out of an oppressing job! If our spirits are oppressed it could really wiegh us down, and above all else God's desire for us is to walk in victory. Now you should be busy sowing... "Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again....Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let not your hands be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well. Ecclesiastes 11:1,6

Nattalie,

You have a great opportunity to work full time, if you learn how to make this business work now it will stand you in a great position when the business picks up. Many agents who have come in whislt the business was humming are finding it very hard as they do not know what to do now. So make a plan, as has been said above prospect and look for leads, and trust God for the results. I have learnt over the years in this business and others that I cannot make customers buy. But I can work hard and give them every opportunity and it is God who blesses the workof my hands.

So good luck in whatever you decide and i will be praying for you.

I got laid off after giving birth - really - my baby was 3 weeks old. It was a complete blessing because I did not like my job. My husband works 2 jobs so I may take care of my children and be an agent. It isn't easy, but when I helped my first customer it was great. I don't want to be rich, I just want to be able to pay my bills and save some back for a rainy day. Put your heart into marketing yourself. Get out of your home and into your neighborhood and SMILE. God's got a plan, so put your trust in Him.

I firmly believe that when God closes a door, He always opens a window. He said that we are to bloom where He plants us and right now, He has asked you to move - Real estate perhaps!!! Just real estate keeps me busy and He has another plan for you, He will reveal it to you... Good luck.

Nattalie,

If you hated the job it's probably better you're not working there anymore. If real estate is slow for you there's nothing wrong with getting a part time job to make ends meet until you get on your feet. Ask God for guidance and trust your heart and gut.
