Does Texas owe you money?

Home Inspector with Capital City Inspections TREC #7290

The state of Texas operates an ‘unclaimed property’ website at . When a payor cannot find a person that is owed money then at some point that money is turned over to the state. I did a search for my name and found that Allstate owed me $100 from 18 years ago. After filing a claim and providing the necessary documentation I received a check for that amount from the state. OK, that's not so much but...

Just for grins I searched other family members and found that my sister-in-law was owed $825 for a mutual fund that my deceased brother had from 12 years ago. That claim is still being processed but it looks promising that she will get that money soon.

Hey that sounds good to me. I'll have to check it out. I think Liz Carter gave us a website like that a couple years ago but my name didn't come up; I'll try again. Better in my pocket then sitting idle in a fund somewhere.

Howdy and evenin to ya Michael

This sure is a mighty worth while blog post for folks to read. I have heard of folks finding a lot of money that was theirs by checkin sites out like that.

Have a good one

Hello Michael - Thanks for the tip.  I will check it out.  I remember when they used to publish the list in the newspaper.  The times sure have changed.
