While mortgages have turned into a dirty word, and seemingly any company near them is now subject to concern, Friedman, Billings, Ramsey thinks First Horizon National is one company that will at least be able to perform at the market's levels.

On Tuesday, Friedman, Billings, Ramsey analyst Gary Townsend upgraded First Horizon National (nyse: FHN - news - people ), based in Memphis, Tenn., to "Market Perform" from "Underperform."
