As I received this in an email and had asked in the past if it was OK to use some of there articles from info@southeastdiscovery.com I receive in an email. Not only above but below you will find the link to recieve the same articles. They depict different areas of our region and woderful to read so I suggest you subscibe the way I did. This article was directed towards the upper end of Transylvania County where Brevard NC is the hub city of the area. We have been tagged the Land of Waterfalls for years as we truly are a rain forest not only with lush and rare species of plants but with the 60 to 80 or so inches of rain we sometimes will receive. Known as the headwaters of the French Broad River, we have without a doubt the most fantastic waterfalls in all of the eastern part of the United States. I hope you enjoy this article as much as I have and be sure and pass it along to others. Better yet come visit Brevard NC and the Land of waterfalls. Recreational and cultural opportunities abound in Transylvania County, known as the Land of Waterfalls: Pisgah National Forest, with its myriad trails, waterfalls, and amenities is only minutes away, and is surmounted by the Blue Ridge Parkway. Dupont State Forest, Gorges State Park, and numerous other parks and recreation areas abound. Cultural opportunities are available at community-friendly Brevard College, the Brevard Music Center, and in numerous venues in Hendersonville and Asheville, NC. As one third of the US population ages in unison, better known as the ‘baby boomer’ generation, these boomers have been soul searching, trying to determine whether to migrate to the southeast or stay put. Grandchildren, medical care and cost of living are ongoing priorities. However, we have seen a noticeable shift - a better quality of life ranking higher in the wish list of boomers today. Would that be defined as less traffic, less pollution, and less noise? As we age and our friends do, our health naturally deteriorates and it is not uncommon to find lumps, masses or cancerous conditions at our more frequent doctor's visits – ‘wake up calls’ to many of us. The importance of quality of life changes instantly from that moment on. Here at Southeast Discovery, we encourage our clients to recognize that where you live makes a huge difference in the quality of your life and your health. When you remove yourself from the fast paced polluted cities and explore places like Transylvania County in Western North Carolina – known as the Land of Waterfalls, you can literally feel your blood pressure drop and your face begin to tickle with joy. Don’t you wonder when you see magnificent mountains stacked in a row formed hundreds of years ago, why they are so incredibly beautiful? The mountains offer natural pleasures to us we can sense in our physical core; sounds of plunging waterfalls, singing birds and colorful landscapes changing by the hour touching our sense of sight, sound and smell. In the Blue Ridge Mountains south of Asheville, we researched a mountain plateau range still unspoiled yet home to affluent families for hundreds of years, families we know like the Ford’s, Firestone’s and Edison families. Many expensive prestigious golf courses and clubs were established in the early 1900’s in this region to entertain the ‘newer money’ and wealthier families. This mountain plateau region is called Lake Toxaway, Cashiers and Highlands. As you travel the winding roads to get there, you can feel your ears slightly pop from the elevation change and sense the temperature drop. The region is a temperate rain forest because of the excessive rainfall at times and is home to exotic fauna and flora. Over 250 waterfalls exist within a few miles of each other, well known waterfalls such as Toxaway Falls, Whitewater Falls, Bearwallow Falls and Sliding Rock in Brevard. The natural drinking water itself in the region is pure and tastes wonderful. As you travel on Highway 64 towards the south, granite mountain faces reveal themselves to you as you turn the corners making you wonder how to reach them to explore. Although this region in the past was primarily known as a second home area, we are seeing it transform into a place of primary residences for folks who enjoy all four seasons. The local Chambers of Commerce are seeing this trend also. Communities such as Gorges at Lake Toxaway, Preserve at Rock Creek and Trillium Links offer boomers affordable places to live while living in the exquisite Land of Waterfalls. You don't need a checkbook with 7 figure balances to live in this area and enjoy its splendor. Gorges at Lake Toxaway’s unique feature in addition to stunning views, three waterfalls and bordered by 10,000 acre Gorges State Park is the flatter topography itself to walk around and build. Preserve at Rock Creek has mostly five acre estates which allows two homes to be built on it, has spectacular long range layered mountain views in all directions and has a substantial protected conservation easement on property. Trillium Links is located in Highlands on Lake Glenville, a 1,450 acre pristine lake with 26 miles of secluded shoreline and has an award winning golf course. Trillium Links caters to golfers and water sports. Cashiers and Highlands are established mountain towns filled with delicious restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries and more places to explore. For information about Gorges at Lake Toxaway, Preserve at Rock Creek and Trillium Links, contact us at info@southeastdiscovery.comor call 877.886.8388. If you have not explored this region - only one hour from Asheville, it is truly worth taking a look. These communities we mentioned have summer events you are invited to.
