WE WANT RAINCAMP, WE WANT RAINCAMP!!!

Okay New England, let's get a movement!

It got attention back in the 60's when I was in college and students were protesting the war in Viet Nam, and also for the Equal Rights amendments for racial equality.

Well, fellow New England ActiveRainers, let's start our own cry. WE Want Rain Camp!!Collectively, there are almost 9,000 ActiveRain members here in New England.

As an ActiveRain member I made the trip to New York City in January to attend my first RainCamp, and it was a great experience.

But that wasn't enough for me, so when the opportunity presented itself, I made the trip to RainCamp in Washington DC as well. As I was making the drive down, better than half the anxiety was on the opportunity to meet my fellow rainers. I already knew that the information itself was worth the trip, but to attend a Family Reunion, as Gerry Michaels so appropriately called it.

We have some great meeting locations in Hartford Ct and the surrounding areas, Worcester MA also has some outstanding locations as does Boston, MA. If you want a taste of New England, then there is definitely Providence or Newport, RI

Nashua NH, also is convenient, as is Portsmouth, NH. It's a bit of a stretch, but Portland, Me also knows how to host an event. Vermont is tiny but Rutland should also get some consideration.

How cool would it be to have RainCamp New England with the fall colors and the Red Sox leading the AL East?

I know that Canada HAS to be on the list of considerations. Toronto will get it's day, it's too large a town not to.

Does anybody else in New England feel the same Way?

This is a public post designed to re-blog and get attention in New England

Ed - LOVE IT! I re-blogged it too. Hopefully this will be the ticket and they will schedule one for the area. I sure do hope they pick Boston, but I will travel anywhere in New England.

Adam, thanks for stopping

Donna, thanks for the vote of confidence, but we want Washington to recognize New England, all I want to be is the facilitator

Al & Peggy, I'm sure there will be a RainCamp scheduled for Canada, (Eastern) somewhere in the immediate future, presuming they can get passports

Ellie, it was great to meet you too, and the call was the only way I thought I could get your attention amongst the crowd.

Linda, I am glad I got to meet you, you are a very pleasant new addition to my AR friends

Kay, I feel you pain but my motives are much more local

Some of the earliest Rainers I 'met' way back in 2006 were New Englanders. You guys definitely deserve to host a RainCamp. Good luck!

William, William, William sometimes people can't see the forest because of the trees. 90% of the geography above our little metropolis of Waterbury are Red Sox fans. If I'm campaigning does it really make sense to cater to the minority interests, when it's the major block that carries the weight?

And, as you have some involvement in the education field, doesn't your geography lessons let you know that New York and Philadelphia are not part of New England?

With comments like these, William my friend, I would probably make you Lt Governor. What better way to run an operation than to pick a right hand man that will do all the work and I can take the credit.

Kristen, anyplace in Maine would have to wait for the summer to show up, which would restrict it to the last week of July and the first week of August, allowing considerations for the black flies.

Pat & Wayne, downtown New Haven has it's appeal and the AR Gods might be persuaded to go there just for a shot at a Sally's pizza

Barbara, I was actually thinking the Centrum in Worcester or the Marriott down the street as being a central New England location. As for the 60's what did you baby sitter tell you about them?

Judy, thanks for stopping and the re-blog I would like to see this circulated so much that Washington takes notice. If I could make the run to DC there would have to be a major problem for me not to make a New England Camp.

George, thanks, maybe we should check the Patriots schedule for when/if they play the Sea Hawks, that might entice them to wander East. Hey BOB STEWART, want to really show your fiancee a great time? New England in the Fall

I thought rain camp was coming to Nashua in October... Or maybe I'm mixing it up with something else. Nashua would be a great place to have rain camp... October is a great month and everyone can do some leaf peeping too! Bring it on!

Ed.. Good morning..  Thank you for posting this.  I've written to Bob Stewart about having one in the Northeast.. There are a lot of members that did NOT come to NYC because of living in New Hampshire, Vermont, and for that matter Maine.  I think Mass would be a good place for this event.

I'm suggesting this as a *feature*.. this too, might grap their attention. What do you think?

ED: Outstanding post (how did I miss it) I am re-blogging it just in case there are others who did not read this as well. NOW I can tell them YES,  WE ARE HAVING ACTIVE RAINCAMP IN BOSTON ON JULY 26, 2010, thanks to your post  and doing a great job as our AR Governor. You serve a reward, how about some points?

I cannot wait to meet the friends I have connected to on AR. As Gerry Michael wrote in his blog I am going to a family reunion. What fun.

See you in Boston, once again I appreciated your phone call, played phone tag but eventually we did talk, and soon will meet in person. Who knows, maybe you might be my long lost cousin. LOL
