This post is admittedly for those new to the world of real estate technology, but as my talk on this topic was very well-received by the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Coastal crowd last week, I figured I'd make it a blog post. I made a few changes from the original handout I provided everyone, but 90% of it is the same.
So, here are 15 free tech tools you can start using today to help your business:
- Dropbox: Online backup and storage system.
- Facebook: Only the world's largest social network.
- Firefox (or Google Chrome): Alternative to the somewhat slow and temperamental Internet Explorer.
- Flickr: Photo-sharing site and social network.
- Gmail: Free web-based email with unlimited storage and easy search functions.
- Google Maps: Maps. On your computer. With satellite images. #cool.
- Google Voice: Continue to use your existing phone number but get notifications (with funny transcriptions) via email and text.
- LinkedIn: The professional's Facebook.
- Mailchimp: Free direct email marketing tool. A free Constant Contact.
- Picnik: Photo-editing made easy.
- Posterous: Start a blog right now by typing an email to post@posterous.com. I dare ya!
- Tokbox: Record and send videos to anyone with an email address. No program required.
- Twitter: The New York Times can't say tweet, but I can. Tweet to find new folks in your community.
- Wordpress: Using either the hosted service or the downloaded software script, you can play in the same leagues as the top real estate bloggers.
- YouTube: If you have already read the first 14, I don't need to tell you what this is or how to use it. :)
Enjoy!
