A new look for Searcy AR. Mexican restaurant really goes authentic. 301 E Race.

Don't you love drive bys when you have to do a double take because of something new?

I do.

And I did.

Driving down East Race Street in Searcy Arkansas I had to look twice because construction of a new kind was going on at the 301 E Race location.  It looked Hispanic or Adobe or something entirely new to our area.

301 E Race

This has been the location of a successful Mexican food restaurant for several years.  It looked this way.  I'm sorry that I had to walk with the Google man to get a picture and this time the picture is not too clear.  But at least Mr. Google makes it possible to get a "before" shot which used to be impossible.  Mr. Google sometimes messes up on the exact address but they do say "approximate!"

301 E Race

Definitely the new look is successful.  I like the way they were creative and used peppers for the letter "i".  I appreciate their willingness to spend money to create a new look for Searcy Arkansas!

Nutsy, no.  You need to be a pepper.  A hot pepper.  Find an outfit.

Mi Ranchito (My Little Ranch)

Far Away
At the foot of the mountain
Where the sun hides early
My sad little ranch is still there
My work abandoned

There, I passed the years
There, I found my first love
There, were the betrayals
The ones that killed my illusions

Oh heart
You left me
Don't tell me goodbye
Come back
To cheer up the little ranch
That was once my whole life's dream

Wicked one
Your black eyes bewitched me with their look
If I'd never seen them
They wouldn't have caused me such pain

You won't find margaritas or Sangria at this Little Ranch in Searcy.

Barbara, this is a favorite dining spot of my young son.  We were some of the first to eat there last night when they reopened.  They did a wonderful job with the interior work.  New flooring.  New booths and tables.  New lighting.  Nice stone work on the lower walls with beautiful black and white prints of old Mexico City on the upper walls.  You should check it out...if you can stand the heat!

Don, where'd you get that poem and is it authentic for the restaurant name?

Angela, I need to plan a trip.  I appreciate their redoing and making better.  I like the new look.

It's from a Linda Rondstadt song from the album, Mas Canciones

There a lot of mi Ranchito restaurants all over the U.S. Don't know if this one is part of a chain.

Allá al pie de la montaña
Donde temprano se oculta el sol
Quedó mi ranchito triste
Y abandonada ya mi labor

Ahi me pasé los años
Ahi encontré mi primer amor
Y fueron los desengaños
Los que mataron a mi ilusión

Ay... Corazón que te vas
Para nunca volver... No me digas adiós
Vuelve a alegrar con tu amor
El ranchito que fue
De mi vida ilusión

Mal haya los ojos negros
Que me embrujaron con su mirar
Si nunca me hubieran visto
No fueran causa de mi penar

Do you folks remember that Linda Rondstadt was once Jerry Brown's girlfriend? Jerry is running for the Governor of California long after serving two terms in that position..

We have mostly red tile roofs here, lots of arches. But if a house is on enough land, I prefer the adobe style. Of course what I am referring to is a little more sophisticated than this restaurant. :)

I melted Nutsy's ice cream today with the SUPER help of a new blogger on AR. heheh

Don, I didn't know that about Rondstadt.  I also don't know if it is a chain.

Anita, hope you are okay with the eye surgery.

Kate, don't you hurt my godson.

Godmother,

I shall find one. But I am not happy. I am burning. Mrs Kate, egomaniac that she is, is bashing your Godson at her limp little blog post. For now I am unimpeachable

Barbara, my eye is fine - or so I think.  See the doctor next week.   I'm currently in Kansas City with my daughter, who has had surgery.  You will be blogging her SOON.....

Hope all is well in Searcy....and not to hot and humid.

James, google is good for lots of things.

Nutsy, you'd be more in line if you were a hot pepper and asked Ms Kate to lick it.  I'm afraid she probably likes ice cream and get carried away and.........well, no more Nutsy!!

Nutsy, how could you possibly come to Searcy to our Mexican restaurant and not come to see me.  Shame on you!   But I know you're teasing me.  This is a dry county so you can't tie one on here at all.
