Moose Monday - 100th Post - An A-moose-ing Encounter

By
Education & Training

Everyone knows that I love to take photos of moose, that is if I can find them in and around Red Lodge, Montana.

I have not seen any live moose since my moose chase back in October 2009 (Moose Monday - Big Bull Moose in Big Sky Country!).

I decided a couple of weeks ago that my luck was going to change.  So I decided to go on a hike an look for moose.  I took with me my binoculars and of course, my camera.

I knew I was going to find moose.   I had this moose-ly funny feeling I would run across one.

Moose shape

Well, I searched high and low, left and right and after spending an hour looking for one, I saw some bushes move and out of nowhere some bizarre took shape right in front of me!

Well, from the antlers I thought surely it moose be a bull moose.

Moose it was but nothing prepared me for what kind of moose it actually was and what it was going to do next.

My heart was racing and I was too late to get my camera and snap a photo.

The moose was too quick for me!   Before I knew it, I saw a flash an he got closer to me

He got me!!!   He really did.  This was not ordinary moose but a very a-moose-ing one!

See for yourself.

Wait, there is more to this bull moose!!!

Bull moose with binoculars and camera

He had binoculars, and guess what he was looking at through those binoculars?

Do you see what else the moose is carrying beside the binoculars?  Now what are the odds of running into a moose who carries a camera?

Oh yeah!  The bull moose was faster at getting his camera and taking a picture of me!!!

Careful if you see this moose!   He likes to take photos (just like me).  I took a hike to capture moose with my camera but it the moose who was quicker and got the first photo with his camera!  He was the first to draw his camera and he got me!

You never know what to expect when you go out looking for moose!

Here is one more photo of this a-moose-ing moose to leave you with:

Michael,

At first glimpse, I did not think it was Bullwinkle.  It is was, he decided to travel alone and spend some quite time away from Rocky in Red Lodge, Montana.  :)

Toni,

The 100th was the result of all the posts in Moose Monday (not just my posts).  I am grateful to all the member's contributions to reach 100 posts including yours.  I don't know when we will reach 200 but that would be a good objective to shoot for next here at Moose Monday.   The moose occurrences however are moosely out of our control so who knows when we will reach 200?

Teral,

The moose are everywhere.  You moose imagine it first and then they will appear, even in Dallas!   Something tells me they moose be bigger in Texas so you can't miss them!  :)
