I came across some conversations regarding iPhones transmitting personal usage data to AT&T and app developers, while the phone owners slept.

Would it be AT&T?

Nosing into your stuff?

 Pumping up your data usage?

Would it be your app developer gathering data in the middle of the night?

And it is not just Apple's iProducts:

Now on Apple, Android, Blackberry, and coming soon to WinMobile, Symbian, and PalmOS.

Would it be the NSA?

Read the part about ATT database collection of all phone calls and router, modem, etc, data collection.  Hawkeye and Aurora

 

At what point are "free" apps and services no longer worth the price?  What do we expose our clients to when transmitting data?

Just yesterday a client asked me to not email an anonymized bank statement due to security concerns.

Do you need a tin foil hat?  Do you need a tin foil hat for your PHONE?

 

The paranoid are not always wrong. Just sayin'...

If certain people want your information, they can get it. I just took a class a few weeks ago in Management information systems. You would be surprised as to what is out here that most people don't have a clue. I sure didn't until I took the class.

My phone is updated every morning at 4:15 with MLS data.  I can only imagine what goes on the rest of the time.  Pretty scary thought with my entire contact database in it.

Yes they can. Yes, I would be surprised. But, I don't need to be comfortable with all of it.

At least you request the MLS data. I don't like the thought of the phone uploading data to the service and app providers while I sleep.

Wow Mike!  This is a lot of eye opening information!  I just hope they aren't selling our info to marketers.

Nevin,

Anyone can be an app developer with the SDK and then get the spyware to add to the app.

I get app spam on my new Evo from "pretty girls on line" in the Android marketplace. I see little chance that honorable intentions are represented in all the apps.
