The Southwest Ambulance Arizona Celebration of Freedom
reached another major milestone today announcing that the Chicago Cubs
have committed to sponsoring the fireworks extravaganza that will follow
the Salute to America program Saturday night July 3, 2010. The Cubs join Southwest
Ambulance and KOOL-FM as the event's major sponsors. The two-day
celebration takes place in downtown Mesa and is underwritten by the
Downtown Mesa Association.
"The Chicago Cubs are an important part of our community year round." Mesa
Mayor Scott Smith said. "When the Cubs' new ownership heard about the
efforts to create a new independence celebration in downtown Mesa, they
immediately wanted to be a part of it."
The Southwest Ambulance Arizona Celebration of Freedom will be held the
Friday and Saturday before the Fourth of July (this year on July 2 and 3)
and is presented by the Chicago Cubs, KOOL-FM and the Downtown Mesa
Association. The event is not just a fireworks show but a two-day
celebration of America's freedom and independence culminating with a
spectacular pyrotechnic show and Salute to America.
"We are proud to help the City of Mesa and be part of the celebration to
offer valley residents a great Fourth of July weekend event." Chicago Cubs
President Crane Kenney said. "The Cubs are grateful to Mesa for hosting us
year round and appreciate the chance to give something back to the people
of this great community."
The Southwest Ambulance Celebration of Freedom is the precursor to every
fireworks show in the State of Arizona filled with classic cars,
motorcycles, beer gardens, arts and crafts booths, music, street
performers, games, family fun, and more. Dubbed as "the coolest
independence festival in the state" with its many "KOOL Zones," the
celebration also features the nationally-recognized Mesa Arts Center as a
backdrop to the main stage and dozens of community groups with hundreds of
volunteers to make this party truly unique.
