Holy Blizzard Batman!!

There will be no showing homes in Colorado Springs, today... (October 26, 2006).

Yesterday, we all enjoyed warm (60-ish degrees) weather. But... WE ALL KNEW...

Even trying to make it into a supermarket yesterday was an act of bravery. (OK, maybe not as chaotic as the  Y2K  frenzy...) but, EVERYONE was out stocking up. For some reason, we all believed the weatherman this time.

Lo' and Behold...  Overnight the snow came in, and morning brought us snow drifts that covered our doors and cars. I LOVE it when Mother Nature gives us spontaneous "Family Days" ...! We were all griddling pancakes ... taking the last ones off the grill... when "POW!" no electricity. For almost 2 hours! And of course we cannot reach the utility company... "All Circuits Are Busy"... (We later found out that a huge chunk of the city lost power.) So, we sat by the fire and read books and wrestled with our boys (ages 3 and 11).

Things like this really make us realize how dependent we are on technology. No email. No tv. No movies. No news. No word processing. NO ACTIVE RAIN! (We had a lot of active SNOW... har.har.)

So, I sit here nabbing a few minutes of "Being Connected" before picking back up my book and enjoying the silence of the storm and the wafting smells of the crock pot (mmmm... chicken and veggies) and hot cocoa, by the fireplace.

There is nothing like getting a blizard to help you network.   I've gotten phone calls from all over the country wondering if I'm ok. It's nice when they call you isn't?

(It's snowing down here in Pueblo as well, but nothing like you have there in C.S.) I live in near Canon, can't wait to get home.

Great blog--it reminds me of how I always thought it would be neat to have a mountain cabin to go to and enjoy the snow--the problem is I hate to drive in snow.  I do love to watch it fall and see everything blanketed with snow.  We, in Seattle, get very little snow but when when do it is such a nightmare because of all the step hills we have.

My late husband was from Del Norte, Co--I enjoyed site-seeing there very much.

Rhode Island Waterfront!

I haven't been to that area for many, many years and although I thought it was beautiful, I don't think I could live there all year round.

Too many nights without technology would make me restless

Hope you enjoyed yourselves.

Nice place to visit - would not want to live there! :-)  Good thing the electricity stayed on - otherwise cold crockpot for you!
