Here are some easy and quick ideas for giving your living room an update, or that simple "facelift"
Clutter--Look around your room to see what you really need to include. Feel free to add a few inspirational items of interest. Keep in mind, the more simple you keep it, the easier it will be to maintain and clean, which in turn allows you more time to enjoy and relax in this room.
Comfortable Furniture--If you are someone that will spend a great deal of time utilizing your couch, the choose one that is comfortable and durable. Try to choose styles that you like that have soft cushions, and deep seats. Also, remember to choose a fabric or material that will be easy to clean.
Your Inspiration--Look around or choose that favorite throw run, painting, or pillow. Pull a color or two from that item and include that color scheme in your room to tie everything together.
Bright Colors--If you have a smaller living room, please remember that softer and lighter colors will make the room feel larger. You do not want to make your room feel and appear smaller by having darker colors on the wall.
Speaking from Experience-- I personally gave my upstairs den a facelift a couple of months ago. I had purchased 2 new pieces of furniture, and happen to come across an area rug that had the same color as the new couch did. I then was on a roll. I decided to take the walls from a light green, to a khaki color which made more difference that expected. Threw up a brand new ceiling fan, painted the ceiling, and made an absolute difference.
I hope that you find these tips useful, and as always, please feel free to share any ideas, or personal experiences.
