Why Blogging Was Not For Me- Maryland
I'm a 25 year old realtor. When I think of writers I think of old people sitting in a room with nothing better to do. When I think of bloggers, I think of old people sitting in a room with nothing better to do. That was scary to me. I never thought I'd ever be blogging and then I went to a rain camp event where they explained blogging a little differently than what I'd heard. Mind you all the major blogggers that were on stage were all over the age of 50, BUT they HAD things to do and that's what made them blog. They were active people with active lives and active events that wrote about it. They had every day stories that people aught to here and they shared it. I thought, my gosh, this sounds really fun. When I heard of social media before, the main focus was on blogging but everyone made it sound like a job or a mundane task." You have to blog atleast 3 times a week but WE blog at least two or three times a day." I was terrified of bloggging. Realtors made it sound like I had to add it to my to-do list along with flossing and taking out the trash.
The rain camp event itself was awesome with a lot of jam packed information it definitely wasn't what I expected, in fact it was much, much, better than what I expected and the things I took out of it were priceless. One of them of course was the gift of blogging;Understanding how to format a blog and what makes your blog seen before anyone else’s.
I think active rain has it nailed down to a science, which is awesome because it kind of shows how important it is to them. It’s cool how they take the time to make sure that everyone’s got it right. I also realized that I had been reading a lot of realtor blogs when I googled answers to questions. I don’t think I really paid attention to it before, I just got my answer and kept on going. But, when it came time to sell my investment property in Philadelphia I picked the Realtor who had the most informative blog. I figured since its informative and current he must be a good realtor. Websites and resumes all pretty much look the same but when it comes to blogging you can speak right to people and show them who you really are and what you really know or took the time to research. Face it, no one really know’s what a CDPE is or a CDRS or GRI or whatever designation we are. They only know what we can show them we know.
I still get nervous when I blog because I'm not sure if people will agree entirely with what I say but I think eventually I won't care. Novice bloggers need to unite! LOL
