An Informal Survey - Please Vote

Real Estate Agent with Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc.

June 16 is both Fresh Veggie Day and National Fudge Day.  Deciding which to celebrate is just too stressful for me to handle... Where should I begin?

Simply asking for help from my distinguished peers on Activerain would probably not catch their attention, however.

So, as an experienced real estate agent who is somewhat familiar with many valuable resources on the Internet (I use them for my world-renowned blog, after all), I decided to approach this the same way I would any tough real estate choice...

  • The first thing I did was visit to look for photos (since I have an annual subscription to that site and there's no additional per-image fee).  I found these fresh carrots and this chocolate fudge cake and felt they would do very nicely to catch the eye of readers.
  • Next, I used to create this 2-photo collage for you.  (I visit this site nearly daily to use one of its many functions, so I chose the upgrade rather than the free version.)
  • Then I visited and created a survey, using my basic free subscription. (Unfortunately, "free" means they will throw in some random survey AFTER you participate in the veggie vs. fudge survey, demonstrating why you may wish to upgrade to a paid version of survey monkey or other online survey-builder.)

Now this difficult decision is in your hands, my friends...  PLEASE VOTE, and the results will help us all decide on our menu for dinner tonight.  Veggies or fudge or both, that is the question.

P.S. This blog post may also help Activerain Newbies see how free and inexpensive online resources can enhance your blog.  There's no need to settle for "just" asking a question or posting a wall of words.

Well, Margaret, it's a good thing I read this in the morningtime while my day still has some semblance of good health.  I voted veggie but if you'd asked me after 7pm there would be no question on it being fudge! :)

Hey, Richard, thanks for featuring this in "Whacked" - LOL.

I'm glad you all are enjoying this, but really... where are the Activerain Newbies who might learn something from this exercise.  I'm seeing a lot of "old" familiar faces and names on these comments!

And I thank you ALL for your comments, old or new, young or "seasoned" (I think that's what they're calling us now) - regardless of your political position on this question.

What a clever way to let us know about your clip art source, artistic tools and the survey tool.  Now I'm off to vote.

Hi, Margaret:

I'm lucky that I love vegetables and don't have much of a sweet tooth. But fudge is very tempting. I just saw a rerun of one of my favorite shows, Peter Perfect, featuring Pauline's Handmade Fudge and was very, very tempted to order some. But it would melt by the time it got here.

I would have prefered to see side-by-side photos of fudge blended by your neat little tool that I've just now discovered.

But in a nod to your desire to see veggies in the mix, I've voted for 'both'.

Thanks for an interesting post.  :-)

Who knew my hard drive would "go" in the midst of this...  I'm writing this on my i-Phone, to let you know that I'll have to check survey results when I get in front of a REAL computer - hopefully later today.  I promise to come back asap.

Great illustration of how we can use online tools in our blogs.  I too use Picnik almost daily.  I haven't upgraded yet, but probably will very soon.  It seems I keep thinking of more ways to use the site!

By the way, FUDGE trumps veggies everytime!

Oh Margaret, I love this post! I have been more cognizant of what I eat lately after watching Food Inc. and reading the Omnivores Dilemma but in spite of eating healthier I still LOVE all things chocolate! OK...I am now off to take the survey :-)

Love the integration of the information of online tools with the survey on carrots or chocolate!  Great post!  As for me...I voted for the chocolate...of course.

29 people participated in the survey.

  • Eat fresh carrots (or other vegetable):  24.1%
  • Eat brownie fudge cake (or other yummy fudge dessert):  24.1%
  • Eat both (fresh veggies will neutralize calories in fudge):  51.7%

'Hope you enjoyed this.  I had fun just thinking about it when I discovered these two celebrations fell on the same day.

Hi Margaret, I am a raw veggies and fresh fruit person. Unlike one of our past presidents, though I hate cooked broccoli, I love it raw. Not a regular chocolate lover ( like once in while ), give me a veggie tray and maybe a dip and this guy is very happy. Fav veggies are broccoli, sweet red pepper, tomatoes, carrots, celery , cabbage, green pepper, radishes, cucumbers. Favorite veg that is heated is corn on the cob. But did eat raw as a kid. :-)

I had fudge and veggies to celebrate the day, I do like the red bell peppers the best.

William - I like fruit and veggies, too, but don't eat enough of them because cookies and chips seem so much more convenient.  Gosh, that does sound stupid, doesn't it?  Anyway, I'm not really a fudge person, so I'll pass on that.

Red peppers with onion or garden dip... I could buy that!

Definitely fudge.  I am convinced that good fudge is almost real food.
