Adding Some Life to a Home: Montreal Home Staging Before and After Pictures

By
Real Estate Sales Representative with Immeubles Deakin Realty

I've got some Montreal home staging before and after pictures for you here.  These come from a Montreal West Island home staging project we recently did.  The home sold after 6 weeks on the market, which was great considering it was in the $500,000+ range where homes generally sit on the market longer than lower priced properties.

It was another real estate agent's listing, but I was happy to stage it because the homeowner was the mother of my very first client as a Montreal home stager

The home was essentially vacant, as the homeowner spent very little time there.  It needed a bit of PERSONALITY and LIFE.

Not much needed here, but for a bit of art and some dreaminess.

A bit of colour, art and light goes a long way.

I like to give each bedroom in a home a personality of its own.  I think it helps potential buyers remember each room: "Remember the one with the green funky art on the wall?"  Or "That was the white, pussy-willow bedroom..."

With the inundation of information in everyone's life, anything we can do to help potential buyers differentiate our listing from everything else they see has gotta help, no?

More to come later on the main living spaces...

In the meantime, feel free to visit my web-site for some more home staging Montreal before and after pictures.

Great work.  I was about to wonder WHY you changed out the lamp in the second bedroom and then I saw how good the old one looking in bedroom #3.   I don't have a headboard in my master bedroom.... and I've been looking for ideas for art to go over the bed.  I have a craftmatic adjustable bed and I'm not giving that up for a headboard. LOL  And I simply love that art piece in your second after photo, it's simple and very pretty.

And she spells colour properly:-)  I must say, this is one of the few times where I see befores and afters actually taken from the same angle...  Most of the time, even on AR, you look at this stuff, and it's liek the befores and afters are not even fromt he same room. You know, sort of like those tv commercials for weight loss, where not just you size shrinks, but suddenly you have beautiful curly hair whereas a before is showing a five o'clock shadown on an uneven surface of one's cranium....:-)

Great job on the small changes that seem to make all the difference.

XOXO

Tanya,

It really didn't take that much to change the atmosphere substantially.

Thanks very much, Tammy.  I love art above a bed, especially something abstract.  It creates movement and fluidity and a bit of dreaminess.  Above my own bed, I have a round metal sculpture mounted.  I used this instead of art because I also have a 3/4 rock wall behind my bed and didn't want anything to compete with that and with our wood and leather headboard.  The best thing is to wait for something that speaks to you : )

Thank you Inna, cherie.  Yes, I know those types of befores and afters very well -- I've shot plenty of them myself!  I guess after 3 years of doing this, I might finally be starting to get the hang of it.  Either that, or I was just plain lucky -- which could be too LOL.  We'll see what happens with the next batch.  Now I'm going to go curl my hair : )

You're right, Brian. It didn't. The homeowner had gone through some tough times and her heart was no longer there -- and it showed. At the same time, she had invested in renovations like refinished wood floors, new flooring in the kitchen, completely updated baths, fresh paint everywhere.  The value of these renovations was being cut short by the sort of sad and lonely atmosphere of the house. Our goal was to make the home feel comfortable, loved and full of life, and to make sure that the homeowner's investment in the renovations showed to their best advantage.

Great job Tanya.  As home staging pertains to my business, I've had a tight relationship with a national award winning home stager for years and I pay her a consultation fee on every one of my listings.  This is just the start of what I do for each seller.

Very simply stated before and afters. Thanks for showing the subtleties that make the difference.
