As I was getting a fresh cup of coffee at the coffee maker, I ran into an agent friend of mine and we got to talking about new businesses on the South Hill and she hadn't yet heard about the news of Ross moving into the Manito Shopping Center. Both of us agreed it would be a good location for a Ross and that it probably would do well up here on the South Hill.
The story was first reported by the Spokane Journal of Business, March 25, 2010. The new store will be where Gottschalks used to be. It looks like they will be doing some renovation work and should open some time next year.
Ross is an excellent place to look for bedding supplies like pillows and comforters. I got a major designer brand of sheets there last year that would have cost me twice as much at a major department store. Also it's a great place for socks and belts, plus if you look carefully through the racks you can find some really good deals on name brand and designer label clothing for both men and women.
I'm just glad that I won't have to drive way out to the valley or up north to go get these items and will now
have a new shopping option closer to home and work. It should also be good for nearby businesses as well with increases in amount of shoppers out and about.
**Blog Update with new Pictures 12/30/10. As of today, it doesn't look like any remodel work has been started, and a Real Estate sign is still in the window, so I will continue to watch this story very carefully as it developes. If you hear of something please call or email me...
