Top Hat, no... Top Kill, no.... Oil Hat.... oh cwap!

Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty

This may not be exactly how things progressed, nor a realistic interpretation of how the thought process went at BP headquarters, but it's still pretty interesting to watch the decision (or lack of decision) making process.

The consultations, the theories, the different attempted solutions... it's all fascinating.

Oh, who am I kidding... this is EXACTLY what happened!  It's as though they had a cameraman at British Petroleum Headquarters from day one. Watch and learn, and be very, very afraid!

Sometimes we all need a little comedy to get us through a tough situation.  I thought it was hilarious!

That was great.  It is sad that this could get even worse and there is nothing that we can do to help. A true disaster in huge proportion.

Funny video Alan.

In reality, I wonder why politicians and executives are wasting precious time in a congressional hearing pointing fingers and making excuses, instead of actually staying on top of and addressing the issue.

Glad I don't work at BP..those guys are being hit like a pinata at an over sugared birthday party with the congressional hearings and every one taking a swing when the cameras are rolling, the hot lights come on. Worry about the cost of fuel as all the other drillers up the insurance liabality costs and pass it along for us to absorb at the gas pump.

Home is where the hearth is.

Richard - you either laugh, or you cry... I choose to laugh.

Jody - truly sad.  And from true sorry comes some of the best satire.

Michael - I know we shouldn't... but we should.

Dan - I don't think that the hearings have slowed down anything.

Andrew - if you behave like a piñata, be prepared to be smacked by hyperactive kids with sticks.

You know, BP did not do this on purpose! We had many options to address this quickly...it was the Federal Government who dragged their feet. I believe that the government wanted this disaster so that they can clamp down on drilling and use it as an issue. Pains me to say it....but the facts about the options for cleaning up the gulf and mitigating the original loss are too clear to ignore.

Home is where the hearth is.

Karen - Nobody... Nobody is suggesting that BP did this on purpose... but how you make the leap of logic to determine that somehow this is the goverment's fault, and that they actually WANTED this disaster???  Sorry, not buying it.

Sometimes, I read a blog and I think I know what I am going to say.  Then I read the comments and I have no idea what to say.

This is one of those times...

Home is where the hearth is.

Jenna - I'm a bit flummoxed as well.

Jarrett - I can't pick a favourite... they're all so good.

Sandy - try... start with a chortle, then a giggle and work yourself up to a hearty guffaw.

Alan, I like the theory of waiting to see if something was going to magically happen...when you don't know what to do, do nothing.

Alan:  The video is funny but sad but really funny but really sad but....

Actually, it seems like BOTH the government and BP probably responded to this pretty poorly.  I don't know that BP did anything different than any other oil company (maybe they did), but since it was their property that caused this, they ARE at fault.

I think Karen might be right, though.  I don't think there are too many people in the White House that are looking to take the high road and focus on solving the problem.  It's tough to watch things unfold and not think that they are using this accident/incident to force their agenda.

I feel like I'm trying to pick a favorite between mud flavored ice cream and bug infested milk.  Is either really good?

Home is where the hearth is.

Steve - it's right up there with the "if I ignore it, it will go away" policy.

Suzanne - I agree.

Chris - I'll take the ice cream.
