Welcome Mat's.

I have a tip to pass on when buying a welcome mat for your home. Stay away from any mat that has a ridge or frame type border. We got a new one recently that looked nice but when it rained water got trapped and settled into the mat creating a small puddle and soggy mess. With the extra water I also found that ants (small one, sugar ants or house ants?) were attracted to this spot. If not corrected in time I believe this extra moisture could potentially have dampend and rotted the wood to the kick board below the front door.

Looking at welcome mats, I think function should come first, they style. I've seen a wide variety of ones that have bristles and are also nice to look at. This type also doesn't allow for water to collect and settle on it.

That's all...
