On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays through Labor Day, the Zoo and The RainForest remain open until 7 p.m. Ticket sales end one hour before closing. (216) 661-6500. Residents of Cuyahoga County and Hinckley Township get free admission on Mondays. If legal holiday falls on Monday, then Tuesday is free day. The Zoo will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day. • The annual Photo Safari runs through Nov. 1 and is open to all amateur photographers. Contestants can enter in two age groups: adults (ages 12 and up) and juniors (ages 2 to 11). One photo entry will be selected each month and posted on the zoo’s website as the “Pic of the Month.” Prizes will be awarded for the best photos in each of the five different categories, and a “Best of Show” winner will be selected. Complete rules and entry forms will be available in the zoo’s Exhibit Hall, online at and at select Discount Drug Mart locations. Eligible photos must have been taken on zoo grounds between April 1 and Nov. 1, 2010.

• Dinosaurs! returns, and features 18 super-sized animatronic creatures that seemingly come to life. Admission is $1 per person in addition to regular zoo admission. The exhibit is free for school groups through the end of the school year, zoo members and children under age 2.

• “The Scoop on Poop” is a one-of-a-kind exhibit that teaches visitors of all ages about the exciting world of excrement, through a tactful approach which uses both science and humor. It features colorful graphics, three-dimensional models and interactives. The exhibit runs through Sept. 12, and is free with regular zoo admission.

• Dads and their children can build memories by attending the second annual Hard Hat Day at the zoo this Father’s Day, June 20. All dads receive free admission to the zoo from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Special activities for the whole family will be offered throughout the day. The first 2,000 kids under age 12 will receive a souvenir hard hat. A special Cans for Conservation aluminum can drive will be held that day to benefit the International Rhino Foundation.

• The zoo will host Senior Safari on Friday, June 25. On that day, anyone age 55 and better receives free admission to the zoo, RainForest and Dinosaurs! exhibit. Cleveland Clinic Healthwise Connection will present a number of free demonstrations, including line dancing, tai chi, zumba fitness, pilates and more. Exhibitors will distribute health and wellness information from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Discount Drug Mart and Cleveland Clinic tables will offer free health screenings.

• Residents of Lake, Lorain, Summit, Portage, Geauga and Medina counties can save on the price of admission through our “Wild Wednesdays” promotion. The half-price admission applies to residents of surrounding counties as follows: July 7, Lake County Day; July 14, Lorain County Day; July 21, Summit County Day; July 28, Portage County Day; Aug. 4, Geauga County Day; Aug. 11, Medina County Day. Out-of-county residents should bring a valid photo ID (with current address) to the box office on the specified day, or bring a current utility bill with another form of identification. Admission fee includes admission to both the zoo and the RainForest.

• Red, White and Zoo will be celebrated on Monday, July 5, and features admission discounts and holiday-themed animal activities. Anyone who wears red, white and/or blue to the zoo will receive $2 off admission making admission just $8 per person, $5 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children under 2 and zoo members.

• Because Monday, July 5, is the observed Independence Day holiday in many communities, the traditional free Monday admission for residents of Cuyahoga County and Hinckley Township will be offered on Tuesday, July 6.

Struggling to search for Avon Lake, Avon, North Ridgeville, Sheffield Lake and Sheffield Village Homes?  Need some easier way to do it on the go?  Trulia
and Zillow are great programs however they are not local.  They are not current to activity at the minute and projections on values of homes are questionable based on global measures and not having local information as a local Realtor would.  So what to do? Add my search engine to your mobile devise or  computer and get direct and current home sales, open houses, know when a home is off the market and sold right away and find similar homes in the area.  The search engine has GPS function that you can activate on your phone  and with that it will give you comparables while you are in the driveway of that dream home.  Now how cool is that?

Try it.

Hi Stan-

Great news about what's happening at the zoo.  My Dad loved to take us to the zoo and I still enjoy it every chance that I get.
