Coffee is for Closers.......

How many times have you noticed that the days of the EASY sales are over?? In today's market we actually have to do something we have not had to do in a while...CLOSE. From the first phone call we get to the actually closing we are selling and re-selling over and over. You have to be on guard so that another lender or broker does not sneak in and steal your deal. Then when we get past that we have to keep selling through the process, even on closing day we are selling so that we can get future referrals from the client. With all the changes in this industry it has made everyone step up their game, the mortgage bankers that are still here are the ones that will be here when the dust settles.

I read a blog the other day on how the "Big Banks" were dropping the ball, that still starts and stops with the loan officer. Some of the big banks still have loan officers there that are not seasoned, I heard of one bank hiring brand new loan officers that do not even have any lending experiece.....PRETTY SCARY!!!  Your regional/local banks are getting the job done because the level of expertise is higher and the underwriting is done locally. In today's market that is huge!! I believe that if you build a relationship with your client and communicate all the challenges that we will face during this process everyone will be fine. That does not mean you stop closing........

We should all be aware that there will be more and more changes coming. We all must be masters of our craft, there is no time for mistakes or an over anxious loan officer or Realtor. We all need to work as a team and relay the same message to our client. I love it when the Realtor tells me THIS IS MY CLIENT and says it as if they are above everyone. In the end the lender is the one getting YOUR CLIENT the money to buy the home. Believe it or not but in this market the Lenders control the transactions, so why would we all not get together and be on the same page. Time lines should be laid out and expectations set.

This is why Active Rain is so important, it give evryone great up to date information, as well as stories of problems or success. In the ned we all have to make sure we do one thing and one thing only......MAKE THE CLIENT'S EXPERIENCE A GOOD ONE!!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!

Thank you ,

Hello Patrick, I agree it's a team effort.  Ego's should not get in the way.  Unfortunately, there can be some pretty big ego's to overcome.

All the best!
