Northville MI NBSA Baseball -
As you can tell by the title I am a head coach for a Northville, MI youth baseball team. More specifically "G" league and my team is the Yankees ( boy do I hate wearing that NY cap) This is my second year as a head coach and my 4th involved in the league.
Baseball, in my opinion is the greatest game in the world. You can be tall or short, thin or not so thin, slow or fast, or 6 or 60. it doesn't matter, anyone can play the game.
The thrill that is involved in coaching these 12-13 year old kids is beyond words. Teaching the fundamentals (sometimes they even listen), the rules and strategies, and seeing how the group improves as the year progresses.
During the 2 1/2 hours I spend with the boys, I become young again and forget about the worries and concerns of every day life because....this is baseball.
Our season has 2 game left, and it goes by quick. I've seen though out the first 10 games, gamesmanship, hard work and enthusiasm. At the end of the year, I have to admit, some sadness arises as everyone will go on and enjoy the rest of the summer
Northville MI NBSA baseball is a great experience. Giving back to young kids what I have learned about this game over my 49 years. The parents are supportive and the kids are great. Occasionally I come across a smart alec, but hey, we're having fun.
I have prepared the line-up for tonghts game. Will we win or lose? You know what?...it dosn't matter.
The bottom line is did I present a good role for the boys?
I believe I have....play ball!!
