I came across the ultimate home security system today, one I have never seen before. And unless you live in Beverly Hills, you probably have never seen one like this. My neighbor mounted four TV- quality cameras high on a tree, connected with motion sensor flood lights. Each camera covered a different quadrant of his lot. Each camera feeds to a tivo-like digital recorder capable of storing a week's worth of real time data on potential. This deluxe, high-tech state-of-the-art system was installed in a neighborhood of homes ranging from $450-$900,000; most homes are closer to the lower end of the range.
I stopped and wondered why the owner would go to such extreme lengths (and cost) to protect his domain on a neighborhood known for being safe and peaceful. Then I saw the sign: property under 24 surveillance: DOG-OWNERS CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR PET OR YOU WILL BE PROSECUTED. Suddenly I understood...this is a neighborhood where 75% of homeowners own dogs. And it only took a few careless owners to drive this family to the brink. I predict his investment will pay for itself many times over.
