Welcome Summer to Michigan

Welcome Summer to MichiganI call this post ‘Welcome Summer to Michigan'.  Today I came across a snow shovel in the garage.  I paused for a moment, and tried to picture my driveway the way it looked not too long ago in 5 feet of blizzard thick snow.

Welcome Summer to Michigan!  I weeded and tilled my garden last weekend.  I planted my seeds of radishes, squash and zucchini.

Welcome Summer to Michigan!  I missed you!  I bought some tomato cages for my tomato plants.  Great big ones, in anticipation of a huge harvest for my salsa this year.

Welcome Summer to Michigan!  I had to close the window when the lawn mower people came to mow my lawn, to keep out the cloud of dust and clippings from coming inside.

Welcome Summer to Michigan!  I went to a local baseball game last week, and also watched little league ball in the park across the street.

Welcome Summer to Michigan!  I sold a house last week that we did not have to de-winterize for inspections!  There were no frozen pipes to deal with! Welcome Summer to Michigan

Welcome Summer to Michigan!  My flowers in the herb garden have been blooming, and there are mosquitoes every time I go out to do yard work. Welcome Summer to Michigan

Welcome Summer to Michigan!  There are flowers everywhere, and trees with leaves!  There is shade and sun!  There is so much to do outside on weekends, my list grows ever longer!

Welcome Summer to Michigan! My friends are planning cook outs, fishing trips and taking vacations.  The Tigers are playing in Detroit, and the Cubs in Chicago!

Welcome Summer to Michigan! Thanks for coming back!  For awhile there I thought you would never arrive.  I could have used you a few times last winter.  Come earlier next year!  You are always welcome!

William, I was a little later getting started this year.  I had to spend a few weekends tearing down a treehouse that I inherited when I bought my home.  Mu insurance company made me do it.  Also, we had some weekends of heavy rain.  Sounds like you are way ahead of me.

Michael I can so relate to summer in Michigan, although my squashes are already growing so are my tomatoes.  Yes we have a great appreciation for summer after each winter.

Have a great summer.

Looks like I found a garden soul mate here in the rain! Colorado seasons are short, but we don't have many bugs at all.
