Uh Oh...Nothing like opening the front door of a house you're showing and having the alarm system go off!

Well, I just finished up showing some condominiums in Riverton and South Jordan Utah tonight and I had a surprise! The sellers had forgotten to TURN THE ALARM OFF! So I open the front door with the key from the lockbox, step in, and then I hear it. UH OH!! I think and begin to squirm inside.

Luckily I was meeting my buyer (for the first time) and she hadn't arrived yet. I scrambled to find the listing agent's number and THE AGENT ANSWERS!!! She called the sellers and they were only a few minutes away, so they came and turned the alarm off.  PHEW!!! WHAT A RELIEF!!!

I was in a panic, just waiting for my new buyer to come, and think I was robbing the place! Well it turned out okay, but it could have gone horrible. This brings me to the question...

HAVE YOU EVER HAD ANY CLOSE CALLS LIKE THIS??? PERHAPS AN EXTREMELY NERVOUS MOMENT WHILE SHOWING? I am interested to hear!

My experience turned out to be a great night, and I met a wonderful new client! Plus I had a funny story to tell her, so I guess it wasn't too bad after all!

I just wish agents would read the MLS or call first before just entering a "vacant-looking" house

I set an alarm off along time ago ( 1984) and police cars from 2 different cities showed up!

LOL, I remember setting off an alarm, and the buyer still wanted to view the property.   The police came, and said --- JUST ANOTHER REALTOR.....   always embarrassing!

Its happened to me before while showing. I just call the listing agent and showing service to find out who can give me the code to disarm the system. The police show up and I identify myself as the Realtor.

One time it happened my prospect scrambled back to their car and left before the police came. The refused to answer my calls, I dont know if they were scared of the noise and drama or a wanted person by law enforcement.
