If you didn't already know, for the last few years mid-century modern furnishings and homes have been gaining momentum. There are many mid-mod fans out there who have seen this coming, but 50's and 60's design has exploded with some help from shows with great vintage set designs like AMC's MadMen. Perhaps it is the fact that all those wonderful homes just turned 50, making many wonderful specimens of mid-century modern architecture eligible for the National Historic Registry. 1950's design principles are still so viable today....making well-designed furniture and homes accessible to the masses (with a healthy dose of atomic age awesomeness thrown in!)
Here in Atlanta, there is a growing respect for searching out that perfectly preserved MCM home, or finding one with great bones to restore to it's original glory (with a little bit of modern updating). There are now homebuyers out there who are buying into original bathrooms and fixtures. Check out some of these examples....who wouldn't want to get clean in this kind of vintage glory?
