The Unemployment Benefits and Tax Extenders bill failed last night.

One provision everyone (in the mortgage business) was watching was the extension of the funding date for Homebuyer Tax Credit from June 30th to September 30th.

With the failure of the bill, this extension dies as well.

Without further action (which is unlikely) the tax credit will expire with fundings on June 30th (except for military service waiver).

I am hoping this will still get threw. guess we are in a wait and see mode.

I like that it's expiring.  It shouldn't be in effect in the first place.  There are already plenty of benefits to owning a home.

I would like to see them go back to the $7500 and have them pay it back over the 15 years like it was in the beginning.

Thanks for your comments Vickie and Cameron.

Have a great day.
