The Economy Has Another Victim - The Peddler Steak House

I just read today in the Times-News that The Peddler is the latest victim of the current rotten economy and will be closing the doors for good July 1.

The Peddler is a family owned business and Scott Surrette said he has sold for health and economic reasons.

The Hendersonville restaurant was known for its steaks.

Rumor has it that Patty Cakes Restaurant will take over the space and probably open in the next few weeks.  Alledgedly they will be keeping their other, smaller (much) spot on Haywood Road.

It's sad to watch these long established local business's having to close their doors.

That is sad. :(  We have a local pizza/pasta place that has been a favorite for years who may close its doors if something doesn't change.  The problem is mainly  a lot of new restaurants have come in to the area (the big chain kind). The area can only support so many.

This has happened around our city also. One day, I'm at one of my favorite spots and the next thing I know, it's closed down. It's just depressing!

Sad to report that closings are happening here too. The end of the space shuttle program is affecting business here and we will continue to see more restaurants and other establishments shut their doors as the program shuts down. Glad that you have a new owner/business coming in.

Actually, they went out of business, because of high prices, poor service, and sub-par food.

Plain and simple.
