Sabbaday Falls, Echo Lake, and Bears…. OH MY!!!!

I couldn’t manage to get away from the office much this weekend, but will be attending the Lenox 301 NASCAR Race in Loudon New Hampshire Sunday.

My Wife’s Family is out from Michigan and being the proper host she took her 6 charges on a sight seeing tour (while I was at Work) Friday. Some of the points of interest were Sabbady Falls, off the Kancamagus scenic highway in Lincoln New Hampshire.

Then of course no trip would be complete with out a visit to Franconia Notch state park, with Echo Lake at the base of Cannon Mountain Ski Resort.

Also one of my favorite easy hikes Artist Bluff which over looks Echo and Profile lake the former site of the old man of the mountain (stone face now fallen).

These pictures were taken to include me in the festivities of the day (I missed) off to the office for a Saturday Morning showing today, when a very excitable wife pulled in driving the big blue truck (which she never drives).

“What’s with the Truck?” I asked…well my wife said I had to go to the dump this morning. There has to be more to the story, she never drives the truck…and goes to the dump ever more rarely. Vonni told me yes I needed to go to the dump, because a BEAR had gotten in to the trash, the garage, and was up on the porch. Never a Dull Moment in the White Mountains of New Hampshire…hope you enjoy the photos.

These are the granite steps 8 feet from our Front door...heading for the garage, where the trash barrels are stored and yes 8 people at the house...means much more trash than normal.

Heading down the driveway to the neighbors house...maybe no ones homes there?

What A Great Way of getting out of Trash duty, wait for Bears while I'm at the office!!!

I'll post some Race Photos on Monday June 28th, if your a race fan check back to see some of the highlights.

Steve:

Do not get too close to those lovely bears.

I so miss the Old Man in the Mountain.  Are they ever going to replace him?

I would not be too keen on the bears near my stuff, I guess that is the beauty of nature. Love the photos.

1- have a great time at the race... I'll look for you on tv, be waving okay?

2- Looks like your wife showed your family a great time

3- the bear looks skinny and hungry...

4. Don't you always let your wife out of "garbage duty?"

Enjoyed the photos on your post as usual.  Although, a bear that close to my door... not too appealing.

Claudette, The State is working on a memorial that will bare a resemblance of the old man, it has been commissioned but no idea about the unveiling yet.

Melissa & Gerry...I can't remember a time when Vonni took the trash to the dump, but I guess with all the family around she wanted to get the temptation away from our home.

Steve, great picture.  I bet the family is having a good time visiting all those places, but I would keep my distance from that bear :) :) :)

Stop it....stop it...stop it.  Every time I see this stuff, I want to move.  Cease and desist.  How lovely...now your wife's family will want to move in with you...are you ready for that?

Thanks for the breath of fresh air though...it's stifling here with more thunderstorms on the way.

Steve...that bear looks to have some kind of a collar on or did have.  Look at the ring around the neck.  That just doesn't come naturally.  You local Dept. of Resources or what ever itis called in your area may want to know about this guy being around.
