Day before yesterday I was grocery shopping when I struck up a conversation with the lovely woman who always helps us in healthfood. Not sure how we got on the topic, but she began to talk about her home, she has no intention fo selling it, or buying another right now or likely any time at all, but really I am so glad for her sake she started talking RE with me. Why? Well she mentioned that even with the very large reductions in value in the last year or so she still has a serious amount of equity in her home based on her tax assesment and her brother's ( an appraiser for a living) opinon on her home.
So....if she has a family member who can keep her abreast with values and she is not selling how could I be of any help? Well....this is one of the ways I could be of help to you and to others as well. Just having some one who knows the overall conditions in the market and is well networked can really help you...and here is how it may help her.
I told her she might want to consider refinancing since rates were @ all time lows. She agreed that was great, but was clear that since she was more than half of the way through a 30 year mortgage, she did not want to start over, she wanted it all paid off before retirement. I explained to her that she could either take out a 30 year loan and pay double each time....which would add more to the pricipal, or she could take out a 20 or 15 year and pay more too. I also let her know that there might be investments that would help her build more that she could use her equity on. She had never considered or thought of any of these options at all. My point is, if you have an ongoing relationship with our team, whether you plan to sell any time soon or buy any time soon or not, we may be able to help you either through ideas you had not thought of or resources you may need to help you explore or impliment those ideas. I will of course be bringing her the contact information for my resource who is a great financial advisor when I see her next.
P.S. If you too want the contact for this financial advisor, let me know. I am very confident in referring him, especially since he works by the hour or job, and is not paid to sell you any product what so ever, please email me if you would like a referral.
