What was once a pit-stop for the Pony Express, Lafayette, California is now a residential community just east of the San Francisco Bay Area.
Lafayette boasts all the amenities of small-town life: good schools, low crime rates, an active downtown and a mild climate. For much of its history, it was a quiet farming village, but like many other small communities surrounding San Francisco, the post World War II boom brought a flood of new homes.

However, the most interesting statistic, is that (once again) the average selling price continues to gain in Lafayette. In May , the average selling price was nearly $140,000 higher than April 2010 and about $280,000 higher than this time last year.
Homes that were sold in Lafayette, California had an average listing (asking) price of $1,262,657 and the average selling price was $1,198,806. The number of days on market decreased in April to 40 days. One day shorter than April 2010.
