Check this out: I get a lead today from someone wanting to see a property, and here's the drama that unfolded......
Of the only reputable internet lead site that I have chosen to remain associated with, I received a lead today from someone who according to their email, went onto the site, provided their phone number and email address and wanted to see a particular property.
I followed up in my usual professional manner, did my homework on the property, contacted the listing agent for showing availability, and called the prospect.
When they pick up the phone, they tell me to hold on a second and let me speak with someone who knew about the request.
This other person tells me "that was a mistake and tried to correct it".
A mistake? Really??
Anyway, here is my email that I sent after the phonecall ended:
I spoke to the person that you put me on the phone with and she explained that this was a “mistake and we tried to correct it”.
I’m not sure how it could be a mistake when you supply someone with your phone number and state that you are interested in viewing a property.
Let me explain how the process works.
When you go online and supply your contact information and state you are interested in a property, 3 things occur:
1. The very nice people at the online real estate site you visited do some work in gathering your information and contacting different agents to see who is available to handle your request
2. The recipient agents does some work to gather information about the property, contact the listing agent regarding status of the property, then contact you to find out when you would like to see it and provide you with the current status and details of the property.
3. The listing agent of the property does some work by taking the time to discuss the property with the Estately assigned agent and provide any details on status, offers, and any other relevant information.
So in essence, there are 3 parties that take time out of their day to do some work on your behalf. It is what they all do to earn a living.
Once again, I do not understand how this could have been a mistake if your friend supplied your contact information and expressed interest in a property
She obviously has an alternate agenda, but nonetheless it is extremely disrespectful and discourteous to 3 different parties who take these inquiries seriously as it is their occupation to do so.
I would advise your friend to abstain from doing so in the future.
I then blocked their email and moved on.
Nuff' said...............
