Is Your Day Dragging You All Over The Place?

Sounds silly, but many agents I know spend their day exactly that way!  By failing to plan out our day, we are falling victim to the whims of the hour!  Always and emergency, always an urgent matter that has to be tended to!

Planning is the sure fire way to success!  In our current market, it's essential!  It's your life blood! When everything was booming it was easy to fall into the lackluster attitude of picking and choosing what you wanted to do and we still made tons of money!  This market has changed all that!  Now it's imperitive that if you plan to stay in this business and thrive, you must learn to plan your day and plan your business!

Do you have a business plan?  Successful agents do!  Where do you want to be 5 years from now?  What do you want your business to look like?  Do you treat your real estate business like a business?  If the truth were known, a huge (I think a majority) number of agents treat it like a hobby, and in fact it may be just that for them. 

If you want to move up to the next level, to be a truly successful real estate professional, planning and follow through is essential! 

1.  Sit down with your manager or team leader and work through a business plan based on your goals.  What do you want your business to look like in 2 years.....in 5 years......in 10 years.

2.  Have your manager or team leader help you with a daily plan to get your started.  Discuss time blocking, time off, marketing....the works!

3.  Don't be afraid to ask questions!  Generally your team leader or manager will be so excited that you have an interest in improving your business! 

4.  Write down your goals and keep them in a place that you can review them daily!  Know what you want......and how you're going to get it! 

5.  Revise your goals as needed.  They aren't written in stone!  Change them as your needs, desires and attitudes change.  Be flexible but resolved!!

6.  Have fun with your business!  People love to deal with people that love what they do!  If it's a drudgery to get up and do this each day......QUIT!!!!  PLEASE!!!  You have no business being in this business!!  Go find a J.O.B. and make your co-workers miserable!  This is a FUN business and you should have a blast doing it!!  It's a new challenge every day......work it!!

Yesterday was a good example of not staying on plan.  I was busy but did not accomplish what I truly needed to (my plan).  It's always good to refocus and someone (manager) to get you back on track.  It's a refresher plus an eye opener....
