Fireworks & Zoo Animals: 4th of Zoo-Ly at the Phoenix Zoo -- Phoenix, AZ

Would you like a side of ZOO ANIMALS with your fireworks this 4th of July?

The Phoenix Zoo is hosting the 4th of Zoo-Ly -- definitely a one-of-a-kind way to celebrate the nation's independence. At this event, guests will have the opportunity to have exclusive access to the Zoo, a classic summer BBQ dinner & many activities for the entire family to enjoy.

Better yet, guests will have VIP viewing of the Tempe Town Lakes Fireworks Show sitting at a special area in the back of the Zoo. And no need to bring a chair, they'll provide it for you.

Here's an itinerary of everything you can do at the Zoo this 4th of July:

6 PM - 8 PM:

  • Jump on the Safari Train Tour and see what the Zoo has to offer.
  • Is your kid roaring like a lion? Transform him/her into one with help from the face painters.
  • Steer your kids toward the inflatable bounce house.

7 PM - 8:30 PM:

  • Chow down on the catered BBQ dinner at the Zoo's Lakeside Lawn.
  • Get up-close and personal with special animal guests.
  • Enjoy a cold beer or even a glass of wine.

9 PM - 10 PM:

  • FIREWORKS!
  • Grab a cool treat for your kids during the fireworks show.
  • ...and have just one more beer.

Looks like that will be a good time. I hope the explosions wont scare the animals too much.

Don't the critters get spooked??  Sounds like fun, and the mention of BBQ makes me hungry all of a sudden.  We have a Zoo Boo for Halloween, but because our Zoo is in the Portland Hills, too much of a fire risk.  A big crowd goes down to the waterfront and there are barges in the river setting off the display.  Or, with my post, people go to see the Beavers at PGE Park ;-)

Hi Anna, the zoo sounds like fun and I'm sure the kids will love it.  A little genius on the play of words, Zoo-ly, I love it.  Also listened to your video and enjoyed it much.  It's very inspiring. Thank you.

Considering how some dogs and cats react to fireworks, I wonder how Zoo animals react to them.
