Follow The Flag

The flags of our independence were many and varied.

Follow The Flag

This was General George Washington's Headquarters flag, which was flown over wherever he quartered.  Note the 13 stars.

It was said that the General favored the six pointed star and was not at all fond of the five points which came to be standard on our nation's future flags.

It is also said by some that Betsy Ross showed him it was a much simpler process to produce the five-pointed stars and he gave in.

Of course other studies disagree that Betsy Ross even had a hand in it.

Whatever the truth, we love it!

Hi Gary-

I prefer the 5 points and I can tell you for a fact that to applique the 6 points is far more time consuming.  Who know that Betsy was one of the fore-mothers of time-management?

Washington was flying a thirteen-stripe flag six months before Independence was declared.

I'm serious hoping that if there is a God, S/He's in the mood to bless the university and not just one small country on Earth.
